As the project lead, you will manage all phases of the project lifecycle, ensuring the delivery of complex Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) components within scope, schedule, and approved budgets. This position demands an expert facilitator and strategic communicator capable of aligning cross-functional teams spanning corporate IT, transit operations, engineering, and multiple external vendors.
Location: Remote (with flexibility to attend on-site meetings based on project needs)
Contract Duration: 24 months
Schedule: Part-time (typically requiring 2 days/15 hours per week, with the flexibility to scale up to 35 hours per week as required)

Responsibilities
End-to-End Project Governance: Lead comprehensive project management activities—including scope definition, schedule maintenance, budget control, resourcing, and communication lines—across all lifecycle phases.
Artifact & Framework Management: Develop, manage, and deliver all core project artifacts in strict compliance with established ITS Project Management Frameworks (WBS, resource plans, and bottom-up cost estimates).
Transit Platform Deployment: Oversee the technical integration and rollout of the digital Yard Management and eBus charging infrastructure platform.
Financial Strategy & Forecasting: Partner with executive leadership to manage financial forecasting, track project actuals, allocate resources, and handle complex funding portfolios.
Risk & Issue Mitigation: Conduct proactive risk and issue management, formulating robust mitigation strategies and building contingency plans for review during project gating activities.
Vendor & Matrix Leadership: Coordinate and manage multiple external technology vendors concurrently, while directing multidisciplinary internal teams within a functional matrix environment.
Stakeholder Engagement: Formulate and execute structured communication and stakeholder engagement plans, ensuring alignment from operational transit dispatchers to senior directors.
Rollout & Operational Support: Support live production operations, system troubleshooting, and the deployment of user training modules during the platform's multi-garage rollout.
PMO Alignment: Collaborate actively with the ITS PMO, participating in portfolio reviews, governance gates, and centralized budget processes.
Qualifications
Mandatory Requirements
Certification: Must hold a current, valid Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from the Project Management Institute (PMI).
Transportation Tech Domain: 15+ years of progressive experience directly managing the technology and IT components of major transportation or transit projects.
Education: Post-secondary education in a related technical or business discipline.
Professional Experience & Skills
Complex Initiative Delivery: Proven track record of successfully delivering at least five (5) multi-year, highly complex, cross-functional initiatives.
Vendor & Matrix Management: Extensive experience concurrently managing multiple large vendors and directing multidisciplinary teams within a functional matrix structure.
Advanced Project Tooling: Advanced proficiency with MS Project / Project Online (POL) for developing and updating highly detailed, dependency-mapped project schedules.
Technical Ecosystems: Highly proficient with SharePoint as a document repository and the broader MS Office Suite.
Business & Legislative Acumen: Sound knowledge of business administration, financial tracking, and relevant regional frameworks (such as accessibility standards, safety legislation, and accommodation requirements for transit passengers and staff).
