Responsibilities
- Report Migration & Modernization: Lead the planning, assessment, and development effort to migrate operational reports to Power BI tools (Desktop or Report Builder).
- Advanced Querying & Data Modeling: Write and optimize T-SQL and PL/SQL queries to extract data from legacy databases. Design and deploy data models optimized for advanced BI and analytic functions.
- DAX Development: Utilize DAX programming to implement complex business logic, measures, and calculated columns within Power BI reports and dashboards.
- Troubleshooting & QA: Perform technical troubleshooting of reports, dashboards, and database queries. Resolve data quality issues identified during pre-release testing.
- Prototyping: Research and prototype new BI capabilities to develop business requirements for future state implementations.
- Documentation & KT: Complete all required technical documentation, including report specifications (PBIX files), code/scripts, and knowledge transfer artifacts for internal project teams.
- Standards Compliance: Ensure all reports and dashboards align with accessibility standards, specifically AODA and WCAG 2.0 Level AA.
Qualifications
- SQL Mastery (4+ years): Demonstrated expertise in writing and optimizing T-SQL and PL-SQL queries for large-scale data extraction.
- Power BI Expertise (2+ years): Extensive experience with both Power BI Desktop (for interactive dashboards) and Power BI Report Builder (for paginated reports).
- DAX Programming (2+ years): Deep knowledge of DAX code for performing data modeling and implementing advanced functionality.
- ETL & Integration: Familiarity with ETL tools such as Azure Data Factory and Microsoft SSDT.
- Analytical Skills: Proven ability to analyze complex data sets for reconciliation, validation, and quality assessment.
- Communication: Strong interpersonal and consultative skills, with experience explaining technical tasks to non-technical stakeholders.
