We are seeking a highly accomplished Senior Software Developer for an enterprise-level contract opportunity based in Toronto. In this role, you will take on a premier software engineering and architecture capacity, specializing in designing, building, and optimizing highly secure, high-performance, and scalable cloud-native applications.
...
As a principal software developer, you will bridge the gap between intuitive front-end user interfaces, robust RESTful APIs, and cloud infrastructure. Operating fully onsite in Toronto, you will lead end-to-end development lifecycles—translating business requirements into clean, performant code using Angular and Spring Boot, building microservices, integrating enterprise messaging systems, managing SQL and NoSQL database layers, and ensuring strict compliance with web accessibility (WCAG/AODA) and security standards.
Location: Toronto, ON
Assignment Type: Onsite (5 days per week)
Contract Duration: 12-month contract (with potential for extension)
Advantages
High-Performance Architecture: Build secure, high-availability, microservices-driven cloud solutions on the Azure platform.
Modern Enterprise Stack: Advance expertise in Angular, TypeScript, HTML5/CSS3, Java, Spring Boot, and RESTful APIs.
Complex Enterprise Integration: Direct hands-on experience integrating with messaging systems (JMS, AMQP), Azure Service Bus, and Mainframe adapters.
Comprehensive Security & Quality: Incorporate advanced cloud security protocols (OAuth2, JWT, TLS 1.2, OWASP) alongside Test-Driven Development (TDD) and CI/CD pipelines.
Responsibilities
Analyze business and functional requirements to design, code, unit test, and deploy secure front-end and back-end application components.
Build responsive, accessible, cross-browser-compatible Single Page Applications (SPAs) using Angular, TypeScript, HTML5, and CSS3.
Design and construct scalable microservices and RESTful APIs using Java and Spring Boot.
Implement enterprise integration patterns utilizing Spring Integration, JMS, AMQP, Azure Service Bus, and mainframe interface adapters.
Write complex SQL queries, optimize database performance, and perform data transformations across relational databases (SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL) and MongoDB.
Develop containerized applications and deployment configurations across Azure, OpenShift, Docker, and Kubernetes environments.
Ensure application accessibility compliance with WCAG and AODA guidelines using validation tools like WAVE and AXE.
Embed robust cloud security controls including OAuth2, Multi-Factor Authentication, SSO, JWT, TLS 1.2, and certificate-protected APIs.
Execute unit testing, Test-Driven Development (TDD), automated API testing, and UI test automation using tools like Selenium.
Support production operations through log analysis, incident troubleshooting, performance tuning, and on-call operational diagnostics.
Create technical architecture specifications, detailed programming design documents, and UML models.
Participate actively in Agile/Scrum ceremonies, joint application design (JAD) sessions, and deliver structured knowledge transfer to team members.
Qualifications
Core Requirements & Mandatory Stack
Software Development Tenure: Minimum 10+ years of progressive hands-on experience in software engineering, focusing on secure, high-performance, and high-availability cloud solutions.
Angular & Front-End UI Mastery: 5+ years of dedicated front-end development experience using Angular (components, services, modules, routing), TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3, and responsive web design.
REST APIs & Spring Framework: 5+ years of expertise in designing, building, documenting, and testing RESTful APIs and microservices using Spring Boot and Java frameworks.
Enterprise Integration: Demonstrated experience with enterprise messaging and integration protocols (JMS, AMQP, REST, Azure Service Bus, or Mainframe IMS adapters) within a Spring Integration context.
Database Capabilities: Strong proficiency in SQL and hands-on experience with relational databases (SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL stores (MongoDB).
Cloud & Containerization: Practical experience building and deploying application components on cloud platforms (Azure PaaS) and containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift).
Preferred Assets
Cloud Security Protocols: Working knowledge of cloud application security standards (OAuth2, MFA, SSO, OWASP baselines, JWT, TLS 1.2, PKI, Digital Signatures).
Accessibility & Testing Automation: Practical experience with AODA/WCAG testing tools (WAVE, AXE), Test-Driven Development (TDD), and automated testing frameworks (Selenium).
Data Management & Reporting: Familiarity with database administration, performance management, PDF generation libraries, and data conversion.
Soft Skills & Delivery Attributes
Problem Solving & Debugging: Exceptional analytical skills to diagnose, debug, and resolve complex technical bottlenecks in fast-paced environments.
Agile Collaboration & Communication: Superior written and verbal communication skills to participate effectively in sprint planning, retrospectives, and cross-functional team alignment.
