Responsibilities
Test Strategy & Planning: Plan, analyze, and define testing strategies for software and infrastructure components, ensuring the main regression suite remains up to date.
Vendor & Stakeholder Engagement: Partner with third-party vendors to coordinate end-to-end testing activities, manage managed-services validation, and perform compatibility testing on vendor-provided programs.
Test Case Lifecycle: Collaborate with Software Developers and technical staff to design precise test specifications, build test cases, investigate failures, and prioritize defects within JIRA.
Multi-Tier Execution: Author and execute test scripts across multiple disciplines, including Functional, Smoke, Regression, User Acceptance Testing (UAT), and End-to-End (E2E) testing.
Artifact Review: Review new or modified programs, including technical documentation, system diagrams, and process flowcharts, to ensure applications function exactly as requested.
Post-Implementation Monitoring: Monitor application performance after deployment to prevent the recurrence of operating problems and verify overall operational efficiency.
Quality Standards Governance: Write, revise, and audit QA metrics, standard operating procedures, and evaluation guidelines to ensure cost-effective software delivery.
Reporting & Visibility: Generate summary and detailed test progress reports, continuously communicating testing milestones and quality risks to project managers and stakeholders.
Qualifications
Core QA Seniority: Minimum of 8 years of dedicated experience in planning, organizing, and executing quality control and software testing activities.
Methodology Expertise: 5+ years of hands-on experience writing and executing test scripts across both Waterfall and Agile environments.
Testing Breadth: 5+ years of deep experience driving Functional, Smoke, Regression, UAT, and E2E cross-team testing initiatives.
Tooling Mastery: 5+ years of advanced expertise utilizing JIRA, Zephyr, and Confluence (or equivalent test management suites).
Communication Skills: Strong interpersonal and written communication skills with a proven ability to lead defect triage meetings and present status to leadership teams.
Education: University degree or college diploma in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related discipline (or an equivalent combination of education and experience).
Technical Agility: Ability to quickly understand underlying technologies, infrastructure models, and cloud-native application setups.
Logistics: Willingness and ability to travel to different operating centers within the GTA as required by project milestones.
Desirable Skills
Familiarity with Transportation Operations terms and concepts (e.g., transit tracking, service planning, or transit networks).
Experience with automated testing and API tools such as Postman, SoapUI, Selenium, or LoadRunner.
Background in data analytics validation, including data verification, ETL checking, or data migration testing.
Experience validating Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) and Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) business solutions.
Understanding of DevSecOps delivery pipelines, cloud architecture, and non-functional validation (Performance, AODA/Accessibility, Security, and PCI compliance testing).
