As a senior specialist, you will act as a primary guardian of system integrity, bridging the gap between rapid software development and stable enterprise releases. Operating within a hybrid model, you will partner with cross-functional engineering squads to engineer scalable test automation frameworks, manage defect lifecycles, validate complex third-party system integrations, and optimize digital solutions to ensure complete compliance with strict performance, security, and accessibility standards.
Location: Toronto, ON

Contract Duration: 9-months contract (with potential for extension)
Advantages
Advanced Automation Ownership: Design, scale, and maintain modern automated testing frameworks for UI, non-UI, and backend web services.
Modern DevOps Integration: Gain deep environment exposure executing automated test scripts directly within active Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines.
Complex Integration Scope: Work on high-tier interoperability initiatives involving multi-vendor data exchanges and dynamic data-capture validation.
Predictable Contract Runway: Build your portfolio with a robust foundational timeline featuring an extensive provincial renewal pathway.
Responsibilities
Test Strategy Engineering: Develop, execute, and continuously optimize robust, project-specific software testing strategies, master test plans, and detailed execution schedules.
Script Architecture & Development: Design, build, and maintain automated test frameworks and test scripts for frontend graphical user interfaces (GUI) and backend web services.
Full-Lifecycle Testing: Conduct comprehensive functional, non-functional, integration, system, regression, and user acceptance testing (UAT) cycles across the application stack.
Agile Pipeline Collaboration: Cooperate actively within Agile delivery teams, utilizing code repositories, managing pull requests, and validating builds inside CI/CD deployment channels.
Manual Testing Execution: Perform meticulous exploratory and manual testing for application components, edge cases, or features not covered by automated regression suites.
Defect Lifecycle Governance: Enforce established bug tracking protocols, ensuring rapid identification, systematic documentation, clear severity triage, and successful re-testing of system defects.
Environment Coordination: Partner closely with Release Management to verify testing environment stability, coordinate test configurations, and sign off on essential QA parameters prior to production launches.
Metrics & Analytics Reporting: Compile, analyze, and present structured test status reports, quality evaluation metrics, and visual performance dashboards to project steering groups.
Risk Management & Escalation: Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate structural testing constraints or environment dependencies, executing timely escalations for critical blockers.
Accessibility & Security Evaluation: Review design documentation and running code to verify strict alignment with digital web accessibility standards and corporate data privacy controls.
Qualifications
Core Requirements
Professional QA Tenure: 8+ years of progressive software quality assurance experience with a strong background spanning both functional and non-functional testing for complex web-based applications.
Automation Engineering Mastery: Extensive hands-on experience designing, building, and maintaining robust automated testing frameworks using industry-standard tools (such as Selenium, Playwright, and Postman).
Agile & DevOps Ecosystems: Deep operational experience working inside Agile Scrum environments utilizing Azure DevOps suites (including Azure Repos, pull request reviews, and CI/CD pipelines).
Public Sector Acumen: Proven experience successfully delivering enterprise-tier IT quality assurance and system testing services within a structured public sector framework or corporate government environment.
Technical & Cloud Capabilities
Programming & Code Modification: Strong development background in core languages (such as C#.NET, TypeScript, JavaScript, or Java) with a proven ability to independently read and modify undocumented codebase scripts.
Web & API Protocols: Technical proficiency navigating modern web technologies (HTML, CSS) and performing deep-interface validation of REST APIs and web services.
Performance Engineering Foundations: Solid understanding of performance testing principles, including load monitoring, system benchmarking, capacity management, and performance modeling.
Compliance Frameworks: Practical knowledge of digital web accessibility guidelines (AODA / WCAG 2.0) and core application security best practices.
Desirable Assets: Prior experience validating healthcare integration projects utilizing data interoperability protocols (such as HL7 FHIR), or holding professional credentials (such as ISTQB, QAI, or ITIL certifications) is highly valued.
Professional Soft Skills
Analytical Problem Solving: Superior critical thinking skills to execute precise test plans, identify underlying software patterns, and resolve complex defects under tight deadlines.
Communication & Collaboration: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with polished ease when presenting test metrics, writing bug documentation, and integrating stakeholder feedback.
