Reporting to the Director, Tax Services, the successful candidate will oversee complex tax filings, provide technical leadership, manage junior staff, and ensure compliance across high-volume and high-complexity client accounts. This is a hybrid role, based out of the client’s downtown Toronto office, with three days per week on-site. The initial contract term is six months, with potential for extension or full-time conversion based on performance and business needs.

Responsibilities
•Prepare and review complex personal, Estate, and Trust tax returns, including T1, T1 Terminal (Final), T3 Trusts, GREs, and Rights or Things returns
•Ensure all compliance obligations are met accurately and on time
•Identify and implement post-mortem and other tax planning opportunities
•Review CRA notices of assessment and prepare adjustments, objections, and Clearance Certificate requests
•Liaise with CRA to address audit inquiries and information requests
•Act as a technical tax resource to internal trust associates and tax team members
•Train, mentor, and support junior staff
•Oversee workload distribution and quality control
•Participate in special projects as assigned
•Collaborate with internal partners, external tax professionals, and clients to resolve taxation issues and ensure timely filings
Qualifications
Required:
•3–5+ years of experience in an Accounting or Tax-related role
•Post-secondary degree or diploma in Accounting or equivalent
•Hands-on experience with:
oT1 Personal Tax Returns
oT1 Terminal (Final) Returns
oT3 Trust and Estate Returns
•Strong knowledge of Graduated Rate Estates (GREs)
•Experience using tax preparation software
•Strong tax research and technical skills
•Demonstrated leadership, decision-making, and workload management experience
•Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
•Advanced computer skills with the ability to work in a paperless environment
Preferred:
•CPA designation (or actively working toward completion)
•Membership or good standing with STEP, CSI, or Taxation programs

•Excellent written and verbal communication skills
