As a senior UX designer, you will bridge the gap between user needs, business strategy, technical requirements, and design systems. Operating fully onsite in Toronto, you will lead end-to-end design research, facilitate product vision sessions, translate complex technical language into simple content, and deliver production-ready service blueprints, wireframes, and interactive prototypes. This position is tailored for a collaborative design leader who can apply user-centered principles, work with modern design systems, and transform complex requirements into elegant digital experiences.

Assignment Type: Onsite (5 days per week)
Contract Duration: 12-month contract (with potential for extension)

Responsibilities
Design effective, functional, accessible, and aesthetically pleasing interfaces for web and mobile applications.
Facilitate user experience research using diverse methodologies including user interviews, diary studies, usability testing, A/B testing, card sorting, and tracking usability metrics.
Translate user research insights into service design blueprints, user flows, customer journey maps, information architecture, wireframes, mockups, and interactive prototypes.
Collaborate closely with Business, Product, and Development teams to facilitate and align the overall product and service design vision.
Design and simplify complex, technical content and processes into clear, intuitive formats tailored to end-user needs.
Utilize established enterprise design systems to build consistent, scalable user interfaces across diverse digital products and viewports.
Rapidly test, evaluate, and iterate interface designs based on user feedback, analytics, and usability testing results.
Identify design challenges within legacy systems and technical constraints to formulate elegant, user-centered solutions.
Prepare clear technical documentation, design reviews, and assessments to communicate concepts to cross-functional partners.
Qualifications
Core Technical & UX Design Requirements
UX/UI Design Experience: Proven experience as a UX Designer, UI Designer, Interactive Designer, or similar role designing web and mobile applications.
User Research & Facilitation: Hands-on experience facilitating mixed-methods user research (interviews, diary studies, A/B testing, card sorting, usability metrics) and translating findings into design deliverables.
Deliverables & Prototyping: Demonstrated ability to deliver service design blueprints, information architecture, wireframes, mockups, and interactive prototypes using tools like Figma or Canvas.
Content & Information Design: Proven experience simplifying complex technical processes and information into easy-to-understand formats.
Design Systems: Ability to design interfaces using established frameworks such as the Ontario Design System or comparable enterprise design systems.
Preferred Assets
Accessibility Standards: Knowledge of accessibility testing and designing to meet WCAG 2.1 AA requirements.
Public Sector Context: Prior experience within a public service or broader public sector environment.
Digital Standards: Familiarity with digital service standards and navigating complex stakeholder approval structures.
Soft Skills & Collaboration
Communication & Presentation: Exceptional ability to convey design concepts, development processes, and user research clearly to diverse stakeholders.
Teamwork & Organization: Strong cross-functional collaboration skills with a track record of managing competing priorities and meeting project deadlines.
