Responsibilities
• Monitor and review corporate action notifications and circulars from various vendors (DTC, CDS, TSE, Bloomberg, etc.).
• Identify corporate action events with complex tax treatment and forward to the tax department.
• Escalate problem issues to senior staff.
• Update databases/logbooks as required.
• Respond to inquiries regarding effective notifications.
• Create corporate action files and update online logbooks.
• Ensure reconciliation system items consistently carry current statuses.
• Perform thorough analysis of circulars/notifications within tight deadlines.
• Determine restrictions and eligibility for Canadian resident shareholders.
• Determine required documentation and submission timelines to the Agent.
• Review corporate action events for French-preference holders and request translation.
• Identify potential foreign currency exchange risk on upcoming corporate action events.
• Analyze information and condense it for client notification.
• Coordinate mailing with Symcor, send email bursts to IAs, and set up for web broker upload.
• Identify important information and conditions to assist the client and reduce risk.
• Communicate effectively with transfer agents/companies to obtain confirmed information and corporate action material.
• Complete required internal courses and cross-training.
• Complete sundry duties/assigned daily tasks within agreed-upon targets.
• (Potentially) Complete daily Income Dividend and Interest payments on the US Custody book of record.
• (Potentially) Perform reconciliation of upcoming Income payments daily.
• (Potentially) Support payment of Mutual Fund dividends when required.
Qualifications
• 5 years of relevant experience in processing or accounting.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Previous experience with corporate actions (a strong asset).
• Previous reconciliation experience (dividend systems, a strong asset).
• Familiarity with credit and debit processes (an asset).
• Previous banking or FI experience (an asset).
• High school diploma accepted; university degree preferred (finance-related discipline).
