The Service Officer provides essential day-to-day operational support within a high-volume environment. You will be responsible for monitoring complex corporate action notifications, ensuring data integrity, and performing critical financial reconciliations. This role is 100% back-office, requiring a candidate who excels at working independently to meet tight deadlines while collaborating effectively with a specialized team of 12.
Pay Rate $23
Location: Toronto (100% Onsite).
Duration: Initial 3-month contract with potential for extension.
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:30 am – 5:00 pm (No rotation/No OT).

Responsibilities
Corporate Action Monitoring: Review daily notifications and circulars from vendors (DTC, CDS, TSE, Bloomberg); validate data using secondary sources and identify impacted share positions.
Technical Analysis: Perform critical analysis of circulars to determine event eligibility, tax implications, and potential foreign currency exchange risks.
Documentation & Coordination: Manage the creation of corporate action files, coordinate mailings, and ensure translation requests for French preference holders are processed.
Financial Reconciliation: Ensure reconciliation systems carry current statuses and perform daily income dividend/interest payment reconciliations on US Custody books.
Risk Management: Identify complex tax treatments for escalation and ensure all client notifications are condensed accurately to reduce firm risk.
Communication: Interface with transfer agents and internal departments to confirm offering materials and finalize submission timelines.
Qualifications
Experience: 5–7 years of relevant experience in financial processing, accounting, or back-office banking operations.
Education: High school diploma required; University degree in Finance or a related discipline is strongly preferred.
Technical Skills: * Strong proficiency in credit and debit processes.
Advanced understanding of dividend systems and reconciliation.
Soft Skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication, high attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize competing tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Assets: Canadian Securities Course (CSC) designation and previous experience with corporate actions or dividend systems are considered major advantages.
