Responsibilities
• Coordinate and monitor inbound shipments of bulk commodities, ingredients, and packaged goods across multiple manufacturing facilities.
• Schedule and manage multimodal inbound transportation, including FTL, LTL, Rail, Intermodal, Ocean Containers, and Bulk Tankers.
• Track freight movements daily from origin to destination, proactively identifying and resolving delays, shortages, or service disruptions.
• Coordinate delivery appointments with receiving departments, aligning suppliers, carriers, production units, and mill teams on timing.
• Maintain transportation records, bills of lading, rail documentation, ocean container status logs, and import paperwork.
• Monitor railcar cycle times, coordinate switch movements, and implement proactive strategies to minimize demurrage and detention fees.
• Oversee ocean freight shipments from overseas vendors, liaising directly with freight forwarders, drayage providers, and customs brokers.
• Manage outbound freight distribution for feed products and ingredients, aligning delivery schedules with customer requirements.
• Optimize company-owned fleet utilization alongside third-party carriers to minimize empty miles and lower total freight spend.
• Collaborate with Procurement and Production teams to build transportation schedules that support production requirements and inventory targets.
• Evaluate carrier performance using key service metrics (KPIs), support freight rate negotiations, and maintain strong vendor relationships.
• Build logistics dashboards and scorecards using advanced Excel, Power Query, Power BI, and ERP systems.
• Leverage AI-powered analytics tools to enhance freight forecasting, optimize route planning, and streamline operational reporting.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives in manufacturing & logistics, establishing standard operating procedures (SOPs) and safety practices.
• Audit receiving inventory transactions for accuracy, document variances, resolve supplier receipt issues, and participate in monthly counts.
Qualifications
• 3 to 5 years of experience in supply chain coordination, logistics management, freight scheduling, or transportation planning.
• Bachelor's degree or diploma in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• Professional supply chain certifications such as SCMP or CITT are considered strong assets.
• Experience in agriculture, animal feed, grain, bulk commodity processing, or food manufacturing is strongly preferred.
• Hands-on experience in managing multimodal transportation networks (FTL, LTL, railcar, intermodal, ocean freight, bulk tankers).
• Advanced proficiency in MS Excel, Power Query, Power BI, and familiarity with ERP-based logistics management software.
• Exposure to AI-assisted tools for freight planning, predictive analytics, and workflow automation.
