Position: Tax Operations Analyst
Competitive Salary
Location: Toronto, ON
Standard: 8-4, 7.5 hours daily, 37.50 weekly
Hybrid mode- 4 days in office, 1 day remote
6 month contract (Potential of extension/Conversion)

Responsibilities
•Ensure local compliance of tax obligations (compliance, advisory, planning) regarding the identification, tax treatment, withholding and reporting of transactional and operational taxes, particular to the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA), OECD Common Reporting Standards (CRS), Chapter 3/61 and Qualified Intermediary (QI).
•Undertake day to day activities of the Tax Operations Team for company CM business Units, which includes, but not limited to, key-in critical Tax Information; assist with Tax Ops projects; and respond to ad hoc requests.
•Establish a best practice approach in ensuring that clients, counterparties and internal business partners receive appropriate attention and that all queries are responded to and resolved in a timely fashion.
•Assisting in the completion of audit preparedness planning and execution
•Support all system testing and drive changes to improve process efficiency.
•Work to ensure that all projects raised internally or by the Operations Engineering Team are supported by the team and delivered to the best abilities of the team.
Qualifications
•Expert operational tax knowledge of Transaction Taxes, Withholding Tax or Capital Gains Tax and how they impact operational processing and infrastructure.
•Familiarity in respect to Entity structures and knowledge of tax impacts on varying transactional flows and asset classes.
•Experience in the application to Tax Operations
•Risk conscious and focused on developing controls.
•To ensure all daily tasks are completed in line with the department procedure manuals and that controls are adequately evidenced.
•Ensure that own personal objective goals, job mandates and appraisals are maintained and updated in-line with company CM standards and deadlines.
•Take an active role in identifying own training and development requirements and work with manager to agree courses and timeline to attend training.
•Ensure that all company Campus Compliance and Policy courses are completed accurately within stated deadlines.
•At least 1 year of work experience at a financial institution
•The candidate should be educated to a minimum of a University Degree within a Financial or Economic sector, or a recognized Financial based diploma.
•Relevant Accountancy designations are a preference
Soft skills:
•Good interpersonal skills are essential, with the ability to coordinate external as well as internal relations and attend meetings or functions where required.
•A flexible, pro-active attitude with the ability to adapt to changing requirements.
•To demonstrate a calm, logical approach to all situations
•Be able to work well under pressure
•Good attention to detail
•Can work well as an individual and as a team member.
