Are you a natural leader with a background in food safety and production?
We are currently seeking a Production Team Lead for one of our top clients—a leading player in the specialty protein and Halal meat industry. This is a permanent, full-time position for a professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and knows how to get the best out of a team.
...
As a Team Lead, you won't just be watching the clock; you'll be the "engine" of the production floor. You will guide a team of 10–20 associates to ensure production targets are hit without compromising on quality or safety.
Your day-to-day will include:
Leading the Floor: Directing workflow and adjusting staffing levels to meet daily kill/processing quotas.
Safety & Quality Guarding: Ensuring 100% compliance with HACCP, GMP, and SQF standards.
Mentorship: Training new hires on equipment use, knife skills, and safety protocols.
Documentation: Completing shift reports, yield tracking, and incident logs accurately.
Process Improvement: Identifying bottlenecks and suggesting ways to increase "line speed" safely.
Advantages
Shifts: 7 AM to 3 PM, 3PM - 11 PM.
Growth: Opportunity to work with an industry leader using state-of-the-art processing technology.
Culture: A diverse, respectful, and inclusive work environment.
Responsibilities
Operational Leadership & Throughput
Shift Start-Up: Lead "toolbox talks" or huddles to communicate daily volume targets, safety reminders, and staffing assignments.
Workflow Optimization: Monitor line speed and labor distribution to ensure carcass or primal cuts move through the facility efficiently.
Issue Resolution: Act as the first point of contact for mechanical breakdowns or supply chain delays to minimize "downtime."
2. Quality Assurance & Halal Compliance
CCP Monitoring: Rigorously monitor Critical Control Points (CCPs) as defined by the HACCP plan (e.g., temperature checks, sanitation levels).
Audit Readiness: Ensure the floor is "tour-ready" at all times for potential CFIA or third-party Halal auditors.
Product Integrity: Conduct random spot-checks on trim quality, weight accuracy, and packaging seals to reduce waste and "re-work."
3. People Management & Safety
Skills Training: Directly mentor associates on specialized tasks such as knife handling, power saw operation, and proper PPE usage.
Health & Safety Enforcement: Correct unsafe behaviors immediately (e.g., improper lifting, locked-out machinery) and participate in accident investigations.
Conflict Resolution: Manage interpersonal issues on the floor to maintain a high level of morale and a respectful workplace.
4. Data & Reporting
Production Logs: Accurately record end-of-shift data including total units processed, yield percentages, and labor hours.
Inventory Control: Track usage of packaging materials and raw ingredients to prevent shortages for the following shift.
Qualifications
What you bring to the table:
Experience: At least 2–3 years in a Team Lead or Supervisory role within food manufacturing (Meat/Poultry experience is a massive plus).
Certifications: Strong knowledge of HACCP and Food Safety regulations.
Communication: Ability to lead a diverse team; multilingualism is often an asset in this environment.
Resilience: You are comfortable working in a wet and refrigerated environment (approx. 4°C) and can handle the physical nature of the meat processing industry.
Reliability: A proven track record of punctuality and leading by example.
Summary
The Production Team Lead is a high-impact, "boots-on-the-ground" leader responsible for driving daily output and maintaining operational excellence within a fast-paced, refrigerated food processing facility. Serving as the primary link between senior management and the front line, this role oversees a diverse team to ensure strict adherence to HACCP, SQF, and Halal integrity standards while hitting production targets.
