Responsibilities
Vessel Operations:
◾Provide direct support to vessels.
◾Maintains the safe and efficient operation of all engineering related functions.
◾Conducts vessel visits and inspections, ensuring vessels are maintained and comply with all relevant standards, and attends vessel for any major breakdown.
◾Monitors vessel efficiency and environmental performance.
◾Continuous operation of assigned vessels, eliminating downtime due to breakdown.
Maintenance:
◾Oversees maintenance and repair of vessels.
◾Monitors Planned Maintenance System
◾Monitors and develops layup work specifications using ShipNet Layup Planner.
◾Reviews all Ship-Out of Service (SOS) forms submitted by their assigned vessels and ensures that all SOS events are reported promptly.
◾Prepares and supervises dry-docking and related surveys and inspections.
Quality, Health, Safety, Environment & Regulatory:
◾Liaises with external authorities including flag, class and port state regulatory bodies.
Budgetary Control:
◾Prepares, monitors and controls budget for assigned vessels.
◾Provides input to Fleet Plan.
◾Coordinates efforts with both the Logistics and Purchasing departments to ensure the required supplies/equipment is delivered to the ship in the most efficient way possible.
Qualifications
◾Completion of post-secondary studies in a marine-related field, ideally with a focus on marine engineering or operations.
◾Holding or eligibility for a senior-level marine engineering certification (such as a Class 1 equivalent) is required
◾3+ years of relevant industry experience, involving responsibilities similar in scope and complexity.
◾Demonstrated success in both technical and leadership roles within marine or maritime-focused organizations.
◾Familiarity with regulatory frameworks and quality systems, including safety management standards (like ISM or ISO) and industry-specific ◾guidelines such as those issued by OCIMF.
◾Skilled in investigation techniques and capable of conducting root-cause analyses.
◾Comfortable using Microsoft tools, especially Excel, Word, and presentation software.
◾Able to interpret complex technical data, including engineering schematics and diagrams.
◾Holds a valid driver’s license, with the flexibility to travel internationally if required (rare chance but always a possibility)
