Responsibilities
- For Fitters: Read and interpret complex technical drawings, including centerlines, orientation callouts, elevations, and offsets to ensure precision for pressure-vessel components.
- For Fitters: Execute the layout and fitting of complex multi-component assemblies, ensuring correct root gaps, bevels, and nozzle orientations prior to welding.
- For Fitters: Take ownership of the complete fit-up scope, including the safe rigging and handling of heavy shells and large-diameter vessels.
- For Welders: Perform high-quality MIG welding on industrial vessels and specialized piping systems. (Note: TIG welding and all-position 1G–6G welding required for advanced candidates).
- For Welders: Produce welds qualified for spot and full X-ray testing. (Note: Failure rate under 5% expected for advanced candidates).
- For Welders: Maintain consistent bead profile and fusion on fillet and butt welds, ensuring minimal leakage and excellent overall weld appearance.
Qualifications
- For Welders: Provide a minimum of three years of professional welding experience in a custom fabrication environment.
- For Fitters: Provide a minimum of three years of experience in a primarily fitting role (fitting 60% of the time or more, welding 40% or less) in a custom environment.- Demonstrate proficiency in reading complex blueprints and identifying standard welding symbols.
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalent technical post-secondary education.
- Hold CWB or TSSA tickets, which are considered a significant asset for this role.
