This Assistant Director of Site Operations role demands exemplary leadership and the ability to navigate between strategic planning and on-site execution. You will play a crucial role in the company's operational performance, ensuring the highest standards of quality, safety, and efficiency are met. Responsibilities
As the Assistant Director of Site Operations, your main responsibilities will include:
• Supervising, inspiring, and structuring a high-performing team of superintendents, foremen, and site personnel.
• Establishing and maintaining high standards of performance, safety (H&S), and collaboration across all sites.
• Promoting a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and pride in a job well done.
• Rigorously monitoring the progress of work on each project and intervening proactively to correct any deviations.
• Collaborating closely with project managers to ensure a seamless flow between planning and execution.
• Identifying, developing, and maintaining strategic relationships with key partners and suppliers for specialized services.
• Actively participating in the implementation of digital tools (tracking software, non-conformance management, digital reports).
• Training and mobilizing teams to ensure the effective adoption of new technologies and work practices.
• Identifying and proposing opportunities to optimize operational processes through technology.
Qualifications
To excel in this Assistant Director of Site Operations role, you must possess the following skills:
• Mobilizing leadership and a proven ability to develop talent within a site team.
• Strong skills in operational planning, project management, and complex problem-solving.
• Concrete experience with integrating technological solutions into construction operations.
• Ability to oversee multiple projects simultaneously with rigour, organization, and efficiency.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interact with all stakeholders.
• Strategic mindset for developing and maintaining solid and lasting business partnerships.
• Proactive, autonomous, and highly adaptable to a dynamic and integrated environment.
The required qualifications for the Assistant Director of Site Operations position are:
• A minimum of 10 to 15 years of experience as a site superintendent.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience managing site teams (labourers, carpenters, etc.).
• Significant experience in commercial construction projects; experience in design-build projects is a major asset.
• Training in engineering and/or architecture is a considerable advantage.
• Demonstrated proficiency with technological tools and, ideally, experience in their implementation.
• Fluency in French and a comfortable proficiency in English.
