A major Quebec public sector organization is seeking a seasoned Senior Information Security Advisor to oversee and elevate its corporate cybersecurity program. Responsibilities
Drive the execution, monitoring, and continuous improvement of daily information security operations.
Provide technical guidance and operational support to team members regarding security events and vulnerability handling.
Analyze existing security solutions to detect gaps, technical bottlenecks, and simplification opportunities.
Contribute to the design, evaluation, and enforcement of security policies, standards, and governance guidelines.
Monitor IT risks continuously and generate regular reporting (risk assessments, incident logs, performance KPIs).
Formulate proactive recommendations to fortify defenses against emerging cyber threats.
Deploy and fine-tune security tools to automate routine tasks and maintain system integrity across assets.
Guarantee strict adherence to organizational frameworks and established regulatory standards.
Qualifications
At least 15 years of progressive experience within the information technology sector.
Minimum of 10 years specializing in information security or a closely related capacity.
Deep knowledge of network architectures, protocols, and infrastructure security.
Strong hands-on familiarity with Linux and Windows systems, including system hardening and bastion access management.
Advanced expertise in Microsoft cloud security services and ecosystem (Azure, M365).
Proven experience with logging, SIEM tools, and operational monitoring solutions.
Thorough understanding of cyber threat vectors, attack mechanisms, and malware behaviors.
In-depth understanding of mitigating controls (firewalls, IPS/IDS, email/web filtering, patching, endpoint protection).
Strong track record securing hybrid and public cloud infrastructure.
Comprehensive knowledge of major cybersecurity frameworks (NIST CSF, ISO 2700x, COBIT, etc.).
Holds at least one industry-standard certification (CISSP, CISM, CISA, CRISC, ISO 27001, or equivalent).
Our client operates in Canada. The company takes all reasonable steps to limit the number of positions in Quebec that require knowledge of a language other than French, and only requires it when necessary and its existing bilingual employees are unable to perform these duties. Based on an assessment conducted by our client, it has been determined that this position requires candidates to be fluent in English (both spoken and written). In particular, this position will require the employee to interact with centralized internal departments (e.g., Operations / HR / Finance / Legal / Contracts / Sales) that support the organization in Canada and that do not speak French.
