By managing core month-end and operational accounting functions, you will free up internal team capacity for major ongoing projects. Responsibilities
As an Intermediate Accountant, your daily and monthly routine will revolve around supporting month-end/quarter-end financial close activities and ensuring control compliance. Your key responsibilities include:
•Financial Close: Prepare and post journal entries and perform detailed balance sheet reconciliations in accordance with established accounting policies.
•Variance Analysis: Independently manage assigned reconciliations, investigate variances, resolve discrepancies in a timely manner, and escalate complex issues appropriately.
•SOX & Compliance: Execute and document Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) controls to ensure full compliance.
•Process Documentation: Create, update, and maintain comprehensive end-to-end finance and accounting process documentation (including inputs, outputs, key controls, and stakeholders) to support audit requirements and knowledge transfer.
•Continuous Improvement: Contribute to process improvement initiatives, including streamlining close activities or supporting automation efforts (e.g., Alteryx, PowerApps) depending on your skill set.
Qualifications
To excel in this role, you should possess a mix of technical precision and strong organizational skills:
•Experience: Approximately 5 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally within a mid-to-large sized corporate organization.
•Education & Designations: Formal accounting training is required; a CPA (CA) designation is highly preferred.
•Technical Skills: * Demonstrated proficiency and hands-on experience with SAP.
oAdvanced Microsoft Office skills (specifically high-level Excel capabilities).
oFamiliarity with automation tools like Alteryx or PowerApps is considered a strong asset.
•Language Skills: Fluent in English with exceptional communication skills (interviews will be conducted in English). Bilingualism (English/French) is considered an asset but is not required.
