Accelerate Your Apprenticeship: 1st or 2nd-Year Welder Needed
Location: Thorsby, AB (Ditch the downtown gridlock! You must reside within a 40-minute drive of our shop).
Wage: $24.00 – $26.00 per hour, plus massive overtime opportunities
Hours: Day Shift, Monday through Thursday
...
Are you sick and tired of feeling like a disposable helper in a massive, impersonal city shop? We are actively hunting for an ambitious apprentice who wants to trade sweeping the floors for genuine, hands-on fabrication experience. Situated safely away from the urban chaos in Thorsby, our tight-knit manufacturing facility needs driven individuals who are ready to earn top-tier, verifiable hours toward their journeyman ticket.
Critical Requirement: This is not an entry-level, day-one position. You must bring serious hood time to the table. We need candidates equipped with a rock-solid technical baseline and roughly 2,000 documented hours already signed off in their bluebook.
Advantages
Rapid Bluebook Progression: This is the main reason apprentices flock to us. You will completely avoid the trap of doing nothing but repetitive grinding. Instead, you will log incredibly diverse, high-value hours fabricating premium structural steel to accelerate your certification.
Guaranteed 3-Day Weekends: Our highly coveted Monday-to-Thursday schedule gives you your Fridays back. Enjoy a long weekend every single week to hit the trails, go fishing, or simply relax at home.
Maximize Your Bank Account: Do not let the hourly base wage deceive you. We offer extensive, continuous overtime for anyone with the drive to stay late and significantly boost their weekly paychecks.
Excellent Perks and Equipment: We supply all the essential shop tools you need, back you with a solid health benefits program, and provide two weeks of paid vacation.
Rock-Solid Stability: Forget about seasonal layoffs. We are offering a full-time, permanent position inside a highly collaborative and exceptionally supportive work environment.
Responsibilities
We absolutely refuse to waste your potential on endless sweeping or fetching tools. You will be actively burning wire right next to our veteran journeypersons to rapidly expand your capabilities:
- Heavy-Duty Flux-Core: Develop total mastery over FCAW and MCAW applications (Flat Position) on heavy-duty projects.
- Structural Fabrication: Play a crucial, hands-on role in the fabrication of massive I-beams, intricate tower sections, and unique structural frameworks.
- Advanced Shop Techniques: Gain consistent, daily experience utilizing intricate custom jigs while executing incredibly precise standoff welding methods.
- Uncompromising Safety Culture: Fully embrace and champion our zero-tolerance, industry-leading policies designed to keep everyone safe during heavy manufacturing.
Qualifications
Official Apprentice Status: You must be officially registered with the apprenticeship board as a 1st or 2nd-year welder (please note that we have a strong preference for 2nd-year candidates).
Documented Shop Time: We need someone who isn't starting from scratch. You absolutely must have a minimum of 2,000 legitimate, verifiable hours fully stamped in your bluebook.
Core Welding Proficiency: A solid foundation and prior practical experience running FCAW, MCAW, or standard MIG processes is highly desirable.
Exceptional Work Ethic: We demand candidates who show up on time every day, prove to be fiercely dependable, and possess an unquenchable thirst for learning the trade.
The Golden Advantage: Do you currently hold an active CWB certification? Let us know immediately, as this will heavily fast-track your resume to the top of our priority list.
Summary
Stop wasting away at shops that view you as disposable labor instead of an upcoming tradesperson. Align yourself with a supportive team completely dedicated to helping you earn your required hours and finally conquer your journeyman testing.
