Sick of sweeping floors when you should be welding? Trade high rent, heavy traffic, and wild shifts for our Thorsby, AB facility. We run a fast-paced structural plant hiring a driven Welder Apprentice today. While local base pay fits the region, abundant overtime and three-day weekends make this lucrative. If you have ~2,000 bluebook hours (or pure grit) and live close by, secure your spot on our shop floor.
Advantages
Permanent Four-Day Schedule: Work Monday through Thursday and own your Fridays. Utilize long 3-day weekends to hunt, fish, unwind, or complete personal tasks.
Unlimited Overtime: Don't look at base pay alone. Abundant overtime allows motivated apprentices to build huge weekly paychecks quickly.
Real Fabrication Work: Earn valuable bluebook hours on heavy structural steel builds instead of spending all day sweeping or grinding shop floors.
Full Benefits & Year-Round Work: Enjoy complete health and dental coverage, shop tools, two weeks paid leave, and steady year-round employment.
Responsibilities
Heavy Wire Welding: Execute high-volume FCAW and MCAW (flat position) on large industrial builds while training under expert journeymen.
Structural Steel Assembly: Interpret shop drawings to build heavy I-beams, tower frames, and structural steel assemblies accurately.
Precision Jig Fabrication: Fit components into custom jigs using standoff methods to reliably hit tight manufacturing tolerances.
Safety Leadership: Keep your work station clean, set up proper equipment, and enforce strict safety rules so everyone leaves safe daily.
Qualifications
Apprenticeship Status: Currently registered as an active Alberta 2nd-Year Welder Apprentice with an active trade standing.
