Responsibilities
In this Accountant role in Brampton, you will be responsible for the following:
- Maintain the general ledger and oversee the month-end closing process to ensure all financial statements are prepared accurately and on time.
- Manage accounts payable and receivable functions, ensuring timely payments to vendors and collections from customers.
- Process bi-weekly payroll for plant and administrative staff while maintaining compliance with provincial regulations.
- Perform regular bank reconciliations and monitor daily cash flow.
- Analyze manufacturing variances and investigate discrepancies between actual and standard production costs.
- Monitor inventory levels and conduct periodic cycle counts to ensure physical stock aligns with the ERP system.
- Update standard costs for raw materials, labor, and overhead on a regular basis.
- Prepare and submit monthly HST filings and other required government remittances.
- Coordinate with external auditors to provide necessary documentation for year-end reviews and audits.
- Assist in developing annual operating budgets and rolling quarterly forecasts.
- Identify and implement process improvements to streamline accounting workflows and strengthen internal controls.
Qualifications
We are looking for the following for this Accountant role located in Brampton:
- Minimum 5 years of accounting experience across all aspects of the function
- A bachelor’s degree in either business administration or accounting.
- Experience working within a Manufacturing environment is required.
- Experience working with processing payroll for Ontario employees is a strong asset.
- Comfortable working in a casual, manual processing environment.
- Must be able to work autonomously with little direction.
