Responsibilities
• Steer incoming and outgoing baggage onto the appropriate conveyor belt assigned by specific baggage labels.
• Monitor conveyor belt operations from the control room to prevent baggage jams and ensure smooth sorting.
• Assist passengers at the self-service baggage check-out claim area who are experiencing technical or process difficulties.
• Verify that baggage tags match routing systems before directing bags to their final airport destination.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace within the airport control room and public check-out areas.
• Report any mechanical errors, conveyor issues, or label discrepancies immediately to the shift supervisor.
• Lift, stack, and move heavy luggage safely to maintain a continuous, unhindered flow of materials.
Qualifications
• Must be comfortable with heavy lifting up to 50 lbs repeatedly.
• Flexibility to work the specified rotating shifts: Day (2:30 AM - 12:30 PM) and Evening (11:00 AM - 9:00 PM).
• Previous experience as a material handler, baggage handler, or in a fast-paced warehouse environment is an asset.
• Ability to pass an airport security background check to obtain necessary control room clearance.
• Strong customer service skills for occasional face-to-face passenger interactions.
• Reliability and punctuality are non-negotiable due to strict flight schedules.
