The Underwriter Hub role is to ensure communication with our broker partners is fair and consistent and delivers a professional customer service experience. The person will be required to review, verify, and adjudicate mortgage loan applications and determine loan eligibility decisions. In this role, the person will also ensure all documentation is compliant with all relevant regulatory bodies. The role provides the opportunity to engage with brokers across Canada and will therefore require the flexibility to work within our operational hours of 8am to 8pm Monday to Friday.

Responsibilities
• Review, underwrite and adjudicate customer mortgage applications within your prescribed authority levels, escalating unusual or complex cases to your manager where appropriate.
• Review all documents submitted to validate accuracy and borrower’s ability to repay the mortgage.
• Ensure the loan application meets all regulatory, insurer and lender guidelines/requirements.
• Contact the broker/client for additional information as necessary to decision the deal effectively.
• Manage the relationship with submitting agent/broker source.
• Deliver quick and creative mortgage solutions, and structure the file consistent with internal policies, procedures, guidelines, insurer programs and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain SLA commitments on applications, based on product guidelines, including timely and accurate update of all systems.
• Work closely with the broker/client/lender to develop a long-term relationship that enables you to grow the size of the portfolio and maintaining funding ratios as agreed.
Qualifications
• Minimum 2 years of underwriting experience.
• Any provincial mortgage license.
• Strong communication and negotiation skill.
• Organized and strong time management skills.
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
• Self-driven, motivated with the ability to work independently and in a team environment.
• Networking, client acquisition and interpersonal skills.
• Carries out duties with integrity and takes responsibility for actions.
• Ability to be decisive and show good judgement consistently.
• Working knowledge of Outlook, Word, Excel.
• Bilingual (English/French) is an asset.
