Responsibilities
Direct and coordinate all daily on-site construction activities to ensure smooth project delivery from mobilization to closeout.
Champion a zero-incident safety culture by enforcing site-specific health, safety, and environmental (HSE) plans, and ensuring full compliance with OH&S regulations.
Engage actively in pre-construction phases, providing valuable input on site logistics, workforce planning, and layout.
Monitor project schedules meticulously, identifying potential roadblocks early and spearheading effective solutions to keep milestones on track.
Equip field teams and trade partners with the necessary resources, plans, and specifications to execute work efficiently and up to building code standards.
Cultivate and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with clients, consultants, sub-trades, and suppliers.
Lead, mentor, and manage hourly site personnel, including carpenters, general laborers, and forepersons.
Qualifications
Experience: A minimum of 5+ years of direct experience working as a Superintendent on mid-to-large-scale construction sites.
Sector Knowledge: Proven background in commercial, institutional, or residential construction projects.
Education: A relevant industry trade certification, diploma, or degree combined with substantial hands-on field experience.
Safety Expertise: Deep understanding of modern OH&S legislation, environmental standards, and site safety protocols.
Technical Proficiency: Exceptional ability to interpret construction drawings, schedules, contract documents, and modern building practices.
Leadership Skills: Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, with a track record of effectively managing field crews and liaising with senior management.
Requirements: Must be based in (or willing to commute daily to) Calgary, AB. Must possess a valid driver’s license and be able to pass standard pre-employment drug and alcohol testing.
