In this senior technical role, you will play a critical part in translating complex business needs into clear, actionable system requirements for core deposit and credit account applications that serve as the foundational Book of Record across enterprise banking systems. Operating with an engineering mindset within a Scaled Agile (SAFe) pod, you will bridge the gap between business partners, architects, software engineers, and quality teams. You will write precise JIRA user stories using Behavior-Driven Development (BDD) methodologies, perform gap analyses, query data across Mainframe environments, and ensure technical solutions meet strict enterprise quality, scalability, and security standards.
Duration: 12-Month Contract (Period: 08/04/2026 to 08/03/2027, with high potential for extension)

Responsibilities
Requirements Engineering & BDD User Stories
Technical Translation: Elicit, analyze, and translate business objectives into detailed functional specifications, system requirements, and technical constraints for engineering teams.
BDD User Story Creation: Author detailed, unambiguous JIRA user stories utilizing Behavior-Driven Development (BDD) acceptance criteria to align development and testing outcomes.
Requirements Traceability: Manage end-to-end traceability of system requirements from initial discovery through design, testing, deployment, and post-implementation review.
Data Validation, Testing & Stakeholder Alignment
Hands-On Data Analysis: Query, inspect, and validate account and deposit data using Mainframe screens to perform rigorous gap analysis and system validation.
Agile Pod Collaboration: Participate actively in SAFe Agile ceremonies, collaborating daily with Product Owners, Architects, Software Engineers, and Quality Engineers to clear blockers and refine backlogs.
Testing & QA Support: Assist quality engineering teams in translating user stories and edge cases into comprehensive test scenarios for product, performance, and operational acceptance testing.
Process & Change Support: Contribute to operational readiness plans, change management strategies, and system implementation documentation.
Qualifications
Professional Experience: 8+ years of progressive experience operating as a Business Systems Analyst (BSA), Software Engineer, or Quality Engineer within a complex enterprise technology ecosystem.
Mainframe Data Fluency: Strong, hands-on experience inquiring, inspecting, and maintaining data on Mainframe screens (Must-Have).
Scaled Agile & BDD Mastery: Proven expertise working within a Scaled Agile (SAFe) framework alongside practical experience utilizing Behavior-Driven Development (BDD) methodologies for story writing.
Agile Tooling: Advanced proficiency utilizing Jira and Confluence for backlog management, tracking, and technical documentation.
Testing & Gap Analysis: Strong track record performing system gap analysis, test case validation, and end-to-end requirement verification.
Mindset & Soft Skills: Engineering mindset with outstanding problem-solving, stakeholder management, and cross-functional communication abilities; comfortable navigating complex data architectures and ambiguous requirements.
Preferred Assets & Nice-to-Haves
Direct domain experience with deposit, chequing, registered accounts, line of credit products, or Interac payments.
Practical experience working with APIs / Postman for integration testing.
Prior technical experience within a Tier-1 Bank or Financial Institution.
Practical exposure to AI productivity tools (e.g., Microsoft 365 Copilot, GitHub Copilot).
