Responsibilities
• Set up, operate, and maintain CNC brake press machinery to bend, shape, and form sheet metal and steel parts.
• Call up, load, and adjust pre-established programs on the machine interface based on production requirements.
• Read and interpret technical blueprints, engineering drawings, and fabrication specifications accurately.
• Perform routine quality control inspections using calipers, micrometers, and protractors to ensure parts meet precise tolerances.
• Handle and position heavy metal sheets and steel materials safely and efficiently within the workstation.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work environment in alignment with joint health and safety standards.
• Collaborate with shop supervisors and the skilled trades production team to optimize workflow and minimize material waste.
Qualifications
• Minimum of 2 to 3 years of hands-on experience as a CNC Brake Press Operator or Brake Press Setter.
• Direct, verifiable experience working within the sheet metal or steel manufacturing industry.
• Demonstrated capability to call up programs on the machine without constant supervision.
• Capability to safely lift up to 50 lbs and stand for the duration of a standard 9-hour shift.
• Reliable transportation to the job location in Brantford, Ontario.
• Strong English communication skills to interpret safety guidelines and manufacturing orders.
• Advanced proficiency in operating CNC brake press machinery within a metal manufacturing environment.
• Proven ability to independently call up, navigate, and execute programs on CNC machine controllers.
• Strong blueprint reading skills and a solid understanding of structural metal fabrication concepts.
• Excellent spatial awareness and physical dexterity for handling sheet metal and steel components.
• Precision measurement skills utilizing standard manufacturing inspection tools.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail to identify formatting or bending defects early.
