Responsibilities
• Run CNC laser machines to cut precision parts according to strict production schedules.
• Perform setups, nozzle changes, lens cleaning, and beam alignments to maintain optimal machine performance.
• Load heavy metal sheets onto the machine bed using lifting tools, overhead cranes, or forklifts safely.
• Read blueprints, technical drawings, and CAD files to confirm job specifications, tolerances, and material types.
• Check part quality using calipers, micrometers, and gauges to ensure compliance with quality control standards.
• Complete basic daily machine maintenance, troubleshooting minor errors, and reporting mechanical issues.
• Keep the Manufacturing & Logistics work area safe, organized, and clean in accordance with 5S standards.
• Document production logs, material usage, and part counts accurately at the end of each day shift.
Qualifications
• Minimum of 1–2 years of experience operating CNC laser cutting machinery or working as a CNC machine operator.
• Capability to safely lift up to 50 lbs and comfortable standing for the duration of the 8-hour day shift.
• High school diploma, Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD), or equivalent technical trade certificate.
• Proven track record of reliability, punctuality, and strong work ethic.
• Basic computer literacy for navigating CNC control screens and logging production data.
• Ability to reliably commute to the production facility located in Brantford, Ontario.
• Proven experience as a CNC Laser Operator, laser cutter, or similar CNC machining role within manufacturing & logistics.
• Strong ability to read and interpret complex industrial blueprints, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), and CAD files.
• Proficient in using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and height gauges.
• Solid mechanical aptitude with the ability to perform routine machine adjustments and laser setups.
• Familiarity with different metal properties, including steel, stainless steel, and aluminum.
• Excellent spatial awareness and safe material handling skills using automated lifting equipment.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.
