Responsibilities
Team Leadership: Supervise, train, and mentor a team of Customs Entry Writers and Coordinators. Manage workload distribution to ensure all deadlines and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) are met.
Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all entries comply with Customs and Border Protection (CBP) regulations and other Participating Government Agencies (PGAs). Conduct regular internal audits of files to maintain high accuracy standards.
Technical Guidance: Serve as the subject matter expert on Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) classification, valuation, and country of origin marking. Resolve complex entry issues or "rejects" from Customs.
Client Relations: Act as the primary point of escalation for high-profile clients. Provide consultative advice on duty savings programs (e.g., Free Trade Agreements, Drawback) and regulatory changes.
Workflow Optimization: Identify bottlenecks in the entry process and implement streamlined digital workflows to improve speed and reduce errors.
Financial Oversight: Oversee the timely billing of duties, taxes, and service fees. Manage the resolution of any payment discrepancies or liquidations.
Qualifications
- 10 years of similar experience in Customs and minimum 2 years in a leadership positions
- CCS / CBSA or CSBS licenses
- The ability to navigate bureaucratic hurdles and find solutions for delayed or flagged shipments.
- Clear, professional verbal and written communication for interacting with clients and government officials.
- Bilingualism, French and English (very important)
