Responsibilities
- Verify the description of each style on commercial invoices (incoterms, values, deductions, TT vs certificate of origin, etc.) and send the documents to the customs broker to obtain customs clearance;
- Apply the tariff code for each style.
- Communicate regularly with the customs broker;
- Verify received customs declarations and approve them for the finance department;
- Identify errors and necessary adjustments, then follow up on B2 forms;
- Compile additional supplier invoices in an Excel file and declare them to customs;
- Approve brokerage invoices;
- Track surpluses and shortages per shipment and declare them to customs;
- Be familiar with and navigate the CBSA CARM portal, and check daily for notices posted on the portal;
- Support the finance department by answering their questions and generating financial reports for internal audits;
- Participate in various projects (e.g., D365, customs audit);
- Keep up to date on regulatory changes to ensure compliance;
- Perform any other related tasks.
Qualifications
- Hold a college-level diploma in a program related to the field
- 5 or more years of relevant experience in customs
- CBSA Customs Specialist certification – an asset
- Proficiency in MS-Office 365 Suite
- Ability to work in a team and serve internal clients
- Efficiency and rigor-oriented
- Autonomy, resourcefulness
- Problem-solving skills
- Ability to maintain good relationships with collaborators and departments
