Responsibilities
Supervise a team by assigning tasks, managing absences, and ensuring day-to-day cohesion, and contribute to recruitment/performance reviews with the Director of Operations.
Plan and coordinate operations to meet productivity targets, stepping in to support activities when needed.
Ensure SOP compliance and manage non-conformities by implementing corrective actions and following up (rejections, compliance cases).
Support and develop the team by answering technical questions, identifying training needs, and coordinating skills development.
Deliver excellent customer service and administrative follow-through (requests, satisfaction, on-time billing).
Qualifications
Experience: 7 to 10 years of relevant experience in customs and/or international freight forwarding in an operational environment.
Customs expertise: strong knowledge of the customs clearance process and Canadian customs laws and regulations (and related systems).
Processes & tools: ability to apply, enforce, and improve SOPs; knowledge of ITM (Descartes) and/or a document management system is an asset.
Technical skills: strong command of Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
Analysis & problem-solving: ability to assess methodologies, adapt the approach, and implement technical solutions for new cases.
Communication & customer service: advanced French/English bilingualism, active listening, ability to advise and explain clearly; strong teamwork and collaboration.
Leadership & supervision: team coordination/supervision (5+), performance management, employee development, conflict resolution.
Assets: AEC or equivalent; CCS/AES certifications.
