Work Arrangement: Hybrid (2 days per week on-site: Mondays & Tuesdays)
Advantages
High-Impact Distributed Architecture Scope: Direct the design and engineering of fault-tolerant, high-concurrency data streaming and batch processing systems.
Cutting-Edge Technical Stack: Work heavily with Scala, Akka / Pekko, distributed computing engines, and modern cloud data environments.
12-Month Engagement Stability: Secure a full 1-year consulting contract within a stable, highly funded enterprise platform team.
Collaborative Hybrid Schedule: Enjoy fixed, predictable on-site days (Mondays and Tuesdays) combined with remote work flexibility.
Responsibilities
Pipeline Engineering & Concurrent Systems
High-Concurrency Systems Engineering: Design, build, and optimize scalable, actor-based distributed data processing services utilizing Scala and Akka / Pekko.
Data Pipeline Architecture: Develop and maintain high-throughput ETL/ELT pipelines, streaming workflows, and data ingestion architectures using big data processing engines (e.g., Spark, Hadoop).
Data Modeling & Storage: Structure and optimize relational and non-relational database schemas, data warehouses, and storage layers for maximum retrieval performance and query efficiency.
Governance, Performance & Stakeholder Collaboration
Data Quality & Observability: Perform root-cause analysis, data profiling, and troubleshooting to resolve data quality issues, performance bottlenecks, and pipeline failures.

Cross-Functional Partnering: Collaborate with cross-functional analytics and product teams to translate complex data requirements into production-ready pipelines, visual dashboards, and analytical reporting models.
Qualifications
Scala Mastery: 5+ years of dedicated professional software engineering experience using Scala.
Akka / Pekko Frameworks: 2 to 3 years of hands-on experience building distributed, concurrent systems using Akka or Apache Pekko.
Big Data & Pipeline Tooling: 5 to 8 years of experience working with big data tools (e.g., Spark, Hadoop), data pipeline orchestration, and workflow management platforms.
Database & SQL Expertise: Advanced proficiency in SQL along with extensive experience across relational and non-relational database systems.
Data Modeling: Proven understanding of enterprise data modeling, data warehousing principles, and distributed storage patterns.
Soft Skills: Exceptional analytical problem-solving skills; strong communication and collaboration abilities to bridge technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Assets & Nice-to-Haves
Hands-on platform experience with Databricks.
Knowledge of complementary programming languages such as Python or Java.
Summary
