In short, the role of pre-construction estimator consists of conducting rigorous analyses of preliminary concepts, working in design-build mode, and coordinating resources to guarantee the financial viability of our proposals. This position is specifically open to recruit two talents: a specialist for our building design-build division and an expert dedicated to our civil division. Responsibilities
The daily routine of a pre-construction estimator focuses on precision, technical creativity, and strategic coordination:
Perform preliminary and detailed budget estimations for private projects based on conceptual plans or performance specifications.
Work in close collaboration with professionals (architects and engineers) within design-build mandates.
For the building division: analyze architectural and structural systems, as well as mechanical/electrical building requirements.
For the civil division: evaluate needs related to earthwork, deep foundations, utility networks, and related infrastructures.
Ensure rigorous coordination and follow-up on budgetary pricing requests with our partner subcontractors.
Propose value engineering solutions to optimize construction costs without compromising quality.
Prepare budget closing files and actively participate in client presentations.
Qualifications
To succeed in this role in Brossard, we are looking for profiles combining technical rigor, a global vision, and strong organizational skills:
Hold a DEC or a bachelor's degree in building estimation, civil engineering, architecture, or a related construction field.
Possess a minimum of 4 years of experience in estimation with a general contractor.
Have relevant expertise in private projects, ideally within design-build or construction management contexts.
Master standard estimation software as well as digital blueprint analysis tools.
Demonstrate an excellent ability to conceptualize project costs even when plans are still in embryonic stages.
Possess strong negotiation skills and a natural ability to build long-term, trusting relationships with subcontractors and clients.
