al business partner to our Sales and Marketing leaders, you will translate weekly profit metrics into clear, actionable insights for senior executives (including our VP of Marketing). The reporting templates and infrastructure are completely built out; we just need your sharp analytical eye and business common sense to spot trends, highlight variances, and keep our commercial teams informed.
Key Responsibilities
-Variance Analysis: Conduct skew-by-skew gross profit reviews to identify, highlight, and investigate key performance variances against budgets and forecasts.
-Data Manipulation: Pull weekly calculation metrics from internal systems and manipulate them within Excel to create clean, legible reports for the commercial sales team.
-Profitability Tracking: Break down weekly gross profit variances into volume impact versus rate impact to find out exactly what is driving the business.
-Business Commentary: Support overall financial consolidation and draft high-level commentary outlining performance drivers by specific brand or customer.
-Cross-Functional Partnering: Act as a liaison between Finance, Sales, and Marketing, packaging financial data into clean insights that drive smart business decisions.
Qualifications
-Finance Background: Prior experience working in a corporate finance, FP&A, or internal commercial reporting capacity.
-Excel Fluency: Strong core Excel skills are required, specifically a high comfort level with V-Lookups, Pivot Tables, and efficient data manipulation.
-Business Acumen: Sharp analytical thinking and the "business common sense" to proactively look at data, spot an anomaly, and investigate it.
-Collaboration Skills: Excellent communication skills to thrive in a highly social, side-by-side team environment.
-Schedule Flexibility: Ability to work fully on-site Monday through Thursday at our Toronto office.
Advantages
You will act as a true business partner to sales and marketing while being fully supported by a collaborative team, clear SOPs, and a dedicated Senior Financial Analyst who ensures you are never left guessing. Additionally, the role boasts fantastic lifestyle and cultural perks, including a social, tight-knit team environment, frequent food-centered company events, and a "Happy Fridays" summer schedule where everyone logs off at noon. Because the business sector is currently booming, this position provides a foot in the door with strong potential for contract extension and long-term networking opportunities.
Responsibilities
Operating as a strategic "watchdog" of gross profit, the Financial Analyst will be responsible for conducting skew-by-skew reviews to identify and highlight key variances against budgets and forecasts. You will pull pre-calculated weekly data from internal systems and manipulate it within Excel, translating complex volume and rate impacts into clean, legible reports for the sales and marketing teams. In addition to data formatting, you will support overall consolidation and draft basic business commentary outlining performance drivers by brand or customer. Ultimately, your role is to act as a vital cross-functional liaison, packaging financial insights clearly so that marketing and sales leaders can easily digest the results and make informed commercial decisions.
Qualifications
To qualify for this role, candidates must have strong core Excel skills—specifically fluency with V-lookups, Pivot Tables, and data manipulation—alongside prior experience in a corporate finance or FP&A capacity analyzing performance against budgets and forecasts. Because this is a strategic business-partnering role rather than a traditional accounting position, success requires sharp analytical thinking and the business common sense to proactively spot data anomalies rather than just process them. Additionally, candidates must be comfortable commuting to a 4-day-a-week on-site schedule (Monday to Thursday) and possess the collaborative communication skills needed to thrive in a tight-knit, interactive team environment.
Summary
This 100% Strategic Finance and FP&A role offers a perfect escape from traditional accounting—there are zero debits, credits, or tedious month-end reconciliations. Instead, you will act as a true business partner to Sales and Marketing leads, translating gross profit data into high-visibility insights for executives. The technical friction is incredibly low because all IT systems and reporting templates are already fully built out; the team is simply looking for someone with the business common sense to spot trends and highlight variances.
You will never be left "on an island" here, as the hiring manager provides fully documented SOPs and a dedicated Senior Financial Analyst to mentor you and review your work. The team culture is highly social and collaborative, featuring regular food-centered company events and a "Happy Fridays" summer perk where everyone logs off at noon. While initially a 3-month contract, the business volume is booming heading into the second half of the year, making contract extensions and broader networking opportunities highly likely.
