Responsibilities
● On-Site Safety Oversight: Conduct regular site safety inspections and audits across dynamic project locations utilizing advanced trenchless technologies.
● Regulatory & Program Compliance: Maintain, uphold, and implement site safety plans in strict alignment with COR (Certificate of Recognition) standards and WCB regulations.
● Subcontractor & Client Management: Manage and monitor contractor safety performance metrics via ISNetworld (ISNET) to ensure compliance with prime contractor and client requirements.
● Incident Investigation: Lead comprehensive root-cause analyses for any near-misses or site incidents, compiling detailed reports and implementing immediate corrective actions.
● Hazard Assessment: Develop and review Field Level Hazard Assessments (FLHAs) and Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) tailored to specialized tunneling environments (e.g., confined spaces, high-pressure slurry systems, heavy lifting).
● Safety Culture Leadership: Facilitate toolbox talks, safety meetings, and site orientations, fostering a positive and proactive safety culture among crews.
Qualifications
● Certification: Valid NCSO (National Construction Safety Officer) designation is strictly required.
● Industry Experience: Minimum of 3–5 years of progressive health and safety experience within heavy civil construction, oil and gas infrastructure, or pipeline/trenchless technology sectors.
● Systems Expertise: Demonstrated, hands-on experience navigating and managing compliance within ISNET, COR frameworks, and provincial WCB programs.
● Technical Familiarity: Prior safety oversight experience on projects utilizing Direct Pipe, Microtunneling, or Horizontal Auger Boring is highly preferred.
● Mobility: Must be willing and able to travel frequently to various regional project sites as required by project schedules.
● Screening: Candidates must successfully pass a comprehensive background check and pre-employment drug and alcohol testing (including fitness-for-duty screening).
