Responsibilities
As an hvac technical designer, your daily routine will be dynamic and divided into clear, impactful technical responsibilities:
Technical design (60%): Develop complete ventilation and air conditioning concepts and perform regular site visits on the North Shore to ensure technical compliance.
Cost estimation (30%): Perform cost analysis, material take-offs, and prepare detailed bids for private projects ranging from $10k to over $900k.
Knowledge transfer (10%): Share your technical expertise and provide ongoing guidance to the project management team.
Software utilization: Use AutoCAD and Planswift daily to design, measure, and estimate project requirements accurately.
Qualifications
To thrive in this role as an hvac technical designer, you should meet the following criteria:
A minimum of 5 years of combined experience in design and estimation specifically within the ventilation industry.
Mandatory experience working for a specialized subcontractor or a general contractor (profiles coming exclusively from consulting engineering firms will not be considered).
A college diploma (DEC) in building systems engineering, a vocational diploma (DEP) in building drafting, industrial drafting, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Strong autonomy, technical rigor, and a highly collaborative mindset.
Excellent communication skills to easily explain and popularize complex technical concepts for internal project teams.
