Responsibilities
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and perform mechanical maintenance on heavy-duty industrial machinery used in the processing and manufacturing of commercial asphalt roofing sheets.
• Rebuild, service, and maintain a variety of plant fluid transfer systems, with a primary focus on heavy industrial pumps.
• Inspect, repair, and maintain automated material handling equipment, including heavy-duty screw conveyors and material feed systems.
• Utilize basic machining and welding skills to fabricate replacement parts, components, and custom structural modifications safely.
• Report directly to the Maintenance Manager, and collaborate daily with the maintenance team to execute routine repairs and preventative maintenance tasks.
• Maintain mechanical compliance with high-pressure utility equipment, including plant boilers, steam systems, and thermal fluid networks.
• Perform necessary maintenance duties across both indoor and outdoor areas of the manufacturing plant facility.
• Adhere rigorously to the site's highly effective safety program, including monitoring humidity index procedures and wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE).
Qualifications
• Must hold a valid 433A Industrial Millwright License (Ontario Certificate of Qualification or Interprovincial Red Seal).
• Solid foundation of mechanical experience working within a heavy industrial processing, manufacturing, or heavy production plant.
• Transferable hands-on background in high-heat or heavy fluid environments, such as paper mills, asphalt processing plants, chemical facilities, or boiler rooms.
• Comfort working in a heavy production facility that features seasonal high-heat conditions and a mix of indoor and outdoor maintenance assignments.
• Must be willing and able to fully comply with all safety protocols, including the company’s structured health and safety index policies.
• Possession of standard mechanical hand tools required for daily industrial maintenance tasks.
