Love spinning wrenches but hate the monotony of doing the exact same oil change or brake job every single day? This is a permanent, local Nisku opportunity designed for a versatile mechanic who thrives on variety. We support a major heavy industrial fabrication, machining, and rig-up facility, meaning our equipment fleet is diverse, non-repetitive, and always changing.
If you consider yourself a master troubleshooter capable of fixing anything from a warehouse forklift to a heavy-duty transport truck, you will absolutely thrive in this shop environment.
Advantages
True Autonomy: We trust your expertise. Expect clear directives at the morning safety meeting, and then you are free to manage your own workflow without being micromanaged.
Ever-Changing Fleet: Broaden your mechanical skillset by maintaining a massive variety of equipment, ranging from material handlers and fleet trucks to complex industrial shop systems.
Stay Local in Nisku: Forget the camp life. Work in our fully equipped, multi-acre service facilities and rig-up yards, and head home to your own bed every single night.
Excellent Compensation: Earn a top-tier rate of $40.00 – $42.00/hr, with highly stable hours and overtime potential that scales alongside our manufacturing demands.
Comprehensive Benefits: Protect yourself with our robust group benefits package, which includes dental, extended health, life insurance, and an employee assistance program (EAP).
Zero Monotony: Say goodbye to the assembly line. We trust you to keep a sprawling industrial yard operating at peak efficiency through varied, engaging daily tasks.
Responsibilities
As our go-to Mechanical Technician, you will be the standalone backbone of our Nisku shop and fleet maintenance. Your primary focus will be ensuring the mechanical reliability of our yard machinery, material handling fleet, and support equipment so our massive rig-up operations never miss a beat.
Key Responsibilities:
- Execute both preventative and reactive maintenance across a vast material handling fleet, including standard and heavy-duty forklifts.
- Expertly diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair industrial shop machinery, yard tools, and heavy-duty transport vehicles.
- Tackle light-duty fleet vehicle repairs and general automotive maintenance whenever necessary.
- Safely navigate a high-paced industrial yard while operating shop machinery, hand tools, and material handlers.
- Work independently to diagnose complex mechanical and hydraulic issues, sourcing parts and planning your own repair workflow without needing direct supervision.
Qualifications
Required Certification: We prefer a valid Journeyman ticket (Automotive Service Technician or Heavy Duty Equipment). However, highly skilled 3rd or 4th-year apprentices capable of working entirely unsupervised are absolutely encouraged to apply.
Versatile Skillset: You need a "Jack-of-All-Trades" mentality. We are looking for someone highly comfortable jumping between general shop hydraulics, heavy-duty gear, automotive repairs, and forklifts.
Independent Drive: You must possess the self-motivation to manage your own daily schedule, troubleshoot independently, and execute repairs without needing constant direction.
Safety & Professionalism: You are a reliable self-starter who brings your own hand tools and treats workplace safety and shop cleanliness as top priorities.
