Responsibilities
Draft various legal letters and procedures, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and compliance.
Serve and process legal documents in strict accordance with legal requirements.
Manage procedural protocols and court deadlines, ensuring strict adherence to deadlines.
Follow up on scheduling reminders to support effective and proactive case planning.
Communicate regularly with legal professionals and other stakeholders, and diligently follow up on required actions.
Prepare case files, including collecting, organizing, and updating documents and authorities.
Open and manage both paper and electronic files, ensuring structured filing and rigorous tracking of case progress.
Enter data into various systems (billing, time entries, disbursements, etc.).
Conduct conflict of interest checks when opening new cases, in accordance with internal procedures. Prepare and manage expense reports with meticulous attention to detail and financial compliance.
Prepare and send invoices to clients, ensuring accuracy and transparency.
Provide general administrative and legal support to the litigation group's lawyers as needed.
Qualifications
3 to 7 years of experience as a legal assistant in litigation.
Excellent command of Microsoft 365.
Fluency in French, both spoken and written, and a very good command of English, in order to communicate daily with clients located outside Quebec.
Good knowledge and use of legal databases, including SOQUIJ, the Land Registry, the RDPRM, and the Office of the Superintendent of Bankruptcy.
Knowledge of applicable legal rules and procedures in litigation.
Excellent communication skills and a high level of professionalism in interactions.
Strong organizational skills, excellent prioritization skills, and the ability to work under pressure.
Autonomy, resourcefulness, and a high degree of discretion.
Knowledge of Maître and iManage software (an asset).
Based on an assessment conducted by our client, it has been determined that this position requires candidates to be fluent in English (oral and written). In particular, this position will require the employee to:
-communicate with English-speaking clients/partners/employees located outside Quebec on a daily basis
-work on client projects, products or deliverables that are required to be delivered to clients in English
