Responsibilities
-Oversee the Legal Assistant team and strategically pair them with Lawyers to optimize desk-side efficiency
-Serve as the primary point of contact between Lawyers, Legal Assistants, and Management to ensure seamless inter-departmental communication and alignment
-Ensuring development of direct reports to meet the company's objective of producing strong co-operative work units
-Employee coaching and management
-Monitor and analyze office data to identify workflow trends, delivering actionable reports and recommendations for operational improvements
-Coordinating follow-up on employee technical training
-Determining requirements for effective delegation of legal assistant work
-Maintain accurate personnel and service records, ensuring all statistical data is organized and accessible for firm reporting
-Organize and supervise work units to maintain high output levels and ensure staff are meeting the firm's tactical objectives
-Manage the logistics and execution of team-building events and firm-wide meetings
Qualifications
-A minimum of 10 years of experience in the legal field, including at least 3 years of management experience
-Completed post-secondary education in Business Administration, HR or a related field or extensive relevant work experience
-Fluent bilingualism in both French and English
-Minimum 10 years of experience, with at least 3 years managing a large team, ideally in a professional services environment
-Highly developed problem solving, conflict management and negotiation skills, including the ability to successfully resolve performance and disciplinary issues. Ability to develop and deliver creative solutions
-Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills
-Demonstrated proficiency in numeracy skills
-Strong written and oral communication skills
-Able to communicate effectively with individuals at all levels of the Firm while maintaining composure
I-ntermediate skill level with Office Suite
-Demonstrated experience in change management and keen interest in continuous process improvement
-Proven organizational skills and ability to prioritize work in a fast-paced environment on a national platform
-Ability to develop strong trusting relationships in order to gain support and achieve results
Our Client operates across Canada, and globally/internationally in the United States and other countries. This company takes all reasonable means to limit the number of positions in Quebec that require knowledge of a language other than French, and only requires this where it is necessary and its existing bilingual employees are unable to fulfil these job duties. Based on an assessment conducted by our client, it has been determined that this position requires candidates to be fluent in English (oral and written). In particular, this position will require the employee to:
-communicate with English-speaking clients/partners/employees located outside Quebec on a regular basis
-work on client projects, products or deliverables that are required to be delivered to clients in English
