Career Opportunity: Manual Machinist
Location: Winnipeg, Manitoba
Positions Available: 10
Shift Structure: Monday to Friday, standard daytime hours (with some evening or weekend flexibility expected to meet production surges)
About the Role:
...
Are you a precision-driven Manual Machinist eager to elevate your manufacturing career within the aerospace sector? We have partnered with a rapidly expanding aviation client in Winnipeg, MB, and they are urgently looking to integrate 10 highly capable Machinists into their world-class production team.
Our client is excited to welcome talent across various stages of their career—from ambitious apprentices to seasoned Journeypersons and CNC experts. If you thrive on tactile, hands-on fabrication, demand meticulous precision in your work, and love collaborative problem-solving, this aerospace facility is the perfect home for your technical skills.
Critical Note: While CNC Machinists are strongly encouraged to apply, demonstrable and robust manual machining experience is an absolute prerequisite. We are not considering applicants whose background is limited to basic machine operation.
Stepping into this prestigious aviation organization means securing long-term career stability within a pristine, climate-controlled, and highly supportive work environment. You will lean heavily on your expertise with conventional lathes and mills to craft and restore intricate aviation components. We are planning two major onboarding waves: the first cohort kicks off in late August, and the second launches in late September. To attract the best of the best nationwide, our client is offering generous relocation support for top-tier candidates willing to move to Winnipeg!
Because the aerospace sector demands uncompromising safety and flawless operational communication, a strong command of the English language is mandatory to decipher complex technical blueprints and collaborate securely with your teammates on the floor.
Advantages
Highly Competitive Wages: Earn anywhere from $27.00 per hour (for experienced apprentices) up to $42.00 per hour (for fully certified Red Seal Machinists).
Relocation Support: Moving to Manitoba? Generous relocation packages are on the table for elite candidates stepping into this role from out of province.
Performance Bonuses: Take home a potential quarterly profit-sharing bonus equating to roughly $3,600 annually, tied directly to overarching company success metrics.
Immediate Paid Time Off: Enjoy three full weeks of paid vacation time, fully unlocked and available to you starting on day one.
Premium Health Coverage: Benefit from 100% employer-funded medical and dental insurance plans, seamlessly managed through the Desjardins network.
Retirement Savings: Secure your financial future with a robust company pension plan that includes a 5% employer RRSP match (administered via SunLife).
Comprehensive Insurance Net: Rest easy with full coverage encompassing short-term and long-term disability, alongside Life and AD&D insurance policies.
Exceptional Work Environment: Build a lasting, stable career in aviation surrounded by a brilliantly lit, safety-obsessed, and highly collaborative team.
Responsibilities
Equipment Mastery: Professionally set up and operate conventional manual lathes and milling machines to fabricate premium-grade aerospace components.
Technical Interpretation: Meticulously review, analyze, and decode highly complex aviation blueprints, engineering schematics, and specialized work instructions.
Precision QA: Rigorously inspect, verify, and measure finished parts using highly calibrated instruments, including specialized gauges, calipers, and micrometers.
Tolerance Adherence: Manufacture from scratch and flawlessly repair delicate aerospace parts, ensuring they meet exceptionally tight specifications and tolerances.
Process Optimization: Proactively troubleshoot tricky manual machining configurations and champion ongoing lean manufacturing and continuous improvement workflows on the shop floor.
Safety & Compliance: Exhibit an unwavering dedication to the facility's safety regulations, overarching quality assurance frameworks, and strict aviation industry standards.
Qualifications
Mandatory Experience: You must bring undeniable, hands-on expertise in manual machining. (Reminder: CNC experts are welcome, but entry-level machine operators will be screened out).
Trade Status: We are accepting applications from active Apprentices, Journeypersons, and Red Seal Machinists (though Journeyperson and Red Seal applicants will be heavily prioritized).
Operational Background: You have a verifiable track record of setting up and running manual mills and lathes amidst the hustle of a busy industrial or manufacturing facility.
Asset Industries: Previous tenure working within custom manufacturing, MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul), or the aerospace sector is considered a massive asset.
Technical & Quality Skills: You possess a sharp ability to translate intricate blueprints into physical parts and utilize precision measuring tools for flawless quality control.
Physical Capabilities: You must be physically capable of standing for extended shifts and securely lifting up to 50 pounds (with or without reasonable workplace accommodations).
Clearance Requirements: Because of the secure nature of the aviation industry, you must successfully pass a comprehensive reliability screening, which encompasses fingerprinting, as well as thorough credit and criminal record checks.
