Responsibilities
•Create detailed 2D drawings using AutoCAD.
•Develop 3D parts, assemblies, and layouts using Autodesk Inventor.
•Produce fabrication, assembly, and installation drawings.
•Generate and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs).
•Revise existing drawings and models as project requirements change.
•Ensure all drawings comply with company drafting standards and best practices.
Project Design Support
•Assist engineers in developing conveyor and material handling system designs.
•Create system layouts based on customer site information and project requirements.
•Review project specifications and incorporate design requirements into drawings.
•Support design reviews and assist with engineering documentation.
•Participate in project kickoff and design review meetings as required.
Manufacturing & Production Support
•Create drawing packages for fabrication and manufacturing.
•Work with production teams to resolve drawing-related issues.
•Support Purchasing with dimensional and component information.
•Assist with developing accurate manufacturing documentation.
•Update drawings based on shop and field feedback.
Documentation & Drawing Control
•Maintain organized drawing files and project documentation.
•Manage drawing revisions and version control.
•Ensure project documentation is complete and accurate.
•Maintain CAD libraries, templates, and standard design components.
•Support continuous improvement of drafting and design processes.
Quality & Continuous Improvement
•Verify drawing accuracy and completeness before release.
•Review designs for manufacturability and installation efficiency.
•Identify opportunities to improve design standards and workflows.
•Assist in developing and maintaining engineering standards.
•Contribute to process improvements that enhance project efficiency and quality.
Qualifications
Education
•Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Design Engineering Technology, Drafting Technology, or a related field.
•Autodesk certifications are considered an asset.
Experience
•2-5+ years of CAD design experience in manufacturing, automation, conveyor systems, material handling, or a related industry.
•Experience creating fabrication and assembly drawings.
•Experience working in a custom-engineered manufacturing environment is considered an asset.
•Experience with drawing revisions and document control processes.
Technical Knowledge
•Strong proficiency in AutoCAD 2D.
•Strong proficiency in Autodesk Inventor 3D.
•Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
•Understanding of mechanical design principles and manufacturing processes.
•Experience creating detailed mechanical assemblies and fabrication drawings.
•Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
•Experience with ERP systems is considered an asset.
