Responsibilities
Handle the opening, monitoring, updating, closing, and archiving of files
Conduct legal research using various electronic databases (REQ, Land Register, RDPRM, SOQUIJ, property taxes, insolvency records, etc.)
Prepare, review, format, and assist professionals in drafting contracts, agreements, and various legal documents—specifically loan agreements, mortgage deeds, deeds of sale, resolutions, and other documents related to real estate transactions
Draft notarial deeds in Para-Maître and handle their registration with the Land Register and the RDPRM
Prepare disbursement statements/payment instructions, adjustments, and trust requisitions for loan disbursements
Prepare deeds of discharge and release, as well as RDPRM cancellation forms, mortgage forms (RH), and various other deeds (RG)
Prepare closing binders and final reports, and handle client follow-ups
Communicate with clients and other parties involved in the files, conduct follow-ups, and take appropriate action
Actively participate in the billing process, send out invoices, and prepare monthly expense accounts
Perform other related administrative tasks
Qualifications
Relevant training for the position or pertinent work experience
Minimum of 3 years of experience in real estate law
Experience in commercial real estate financing is an asset
Excellent command of French and English, both spoken and written (40% English-speaking clientele)
Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite, DocuSign, and Closing Folders
Knowledge of Maître and/or Para-Maître is an asset
Knowledge of Consigno is an asset
Strong teamwork skills
Ability to work under tight deadlines
Based on an assessment conducted by our client, it has been determined that this position requires candidates to be fluent in English (oral and written). In particular, this position will require the employee to:
-communicate with English-speaking clients/partners/employees located outside Quebec on a daily basis
-work on client projects, products or deliverables that are required to be delivered to clients in English
