The Senior Accountant is a vital part of a close-knit, supportive team that treats everyone like family in the office located in Pointe-Claire. In this role, the professional manages accounting operations for shipping activities, ensures accurate revenue and cost recognition, and supports financial reporting within a high-volume, multi-currency environment. Responsibilities
• Financial Oversight & Reconciliations: Executes and reviews balance sheet and income statement reconciliations, prepares approved journal entries, and maintains strict internal financial controls. Prepare month-end closing and the financial statement
• Accounts Receivable & Revenue: Monitors aging reports, accurately applies cash receipts via CargoWise, handles billing disputes, and manages weekly overdue accounts and credit approvals.
• Accounts Payable & Cost Control: Reviews vendor payments using a 3-way match system, tracks landed costs (freight, duties, insurance), and manages monthly expense accounts with proper backups.
• Operations Collaboration: Partners closely with logistics teams to ensure accurate job costing and works to optimize system processes between finance and operations
• Team Supervision
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
• 3 to 5 years of professional accounting experience
• Bilingual communication skills, both written and oral in French and English
• Intermediate Excel Skills
• Experienced with ERP systems
Note on English Proficiency: Based on an assessment conducted by our client, it has been determined that this position requires candidates to be fluent in English (both verbal and written). Specifically, the employee will need to collaborate with and provide necessary support to colleagues and business functions located outside of Quebec who do not speak French.
