As a Senior Business Analyst, you will serve as the critical bridge between business stakeholders, Product Owners, and technical software engineering squads. Operating fully onsite in Toronto within an Agile environment, you will lead requirements clarification, refine product backlogs in Azure DevOps, analyze current-state workflows, and query underlying Oracle databases to extract key business insights. This position is tailored for a technical BA who excels at eliminating requirement ambiguities, facilitating sprint ceremonies, and ensuring delivered digital solutions align with core organizational goals.

Responsibilities

Collaborate closely with the Product Owner and development teams to translate high-level business goals into well-defined, prioritized user stories with clear acceptance criteria.
Participate in and lead key Agile sprint ceremonies, including backlog refinement, sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
Perform data analysis and write custom queries against Oracle databases to analyze current system usage, uncover data trends, and validate backend business rules.
Manage, track, and prioritize user stories and technical requirements using tools like Azure DevOps.
Facilitate stakeholder communication by providing clear progress updates, risk assessments, and change notifications to business leads and I&IT management.
Assist with User Acceptance Testing (UAT), review use cases, and validate developed features against business needs prior to production releases.
Document current-state and target future-state workflows, business rules, and non-functional requirements in alignment with standard system development methodologies.
Qualifications
Core Requirements & BA Expertise
Agile Business Analysis Tenure: Proven experience leading business analysis activities and requirements elaboration within structured Agile delivery environments.
Requirements Refinement & Story Definition: Strong expertise defining, clarifying, and prioritizing user stories, acceptance criteria, and technical backlogs using Azure DevOps or similar CASE tools.
Oracle Database & Data Analysis: Hands-on experience connecting to, querying, and analyzing relational Oracle databases to extract insights and validate business logic.
Stakeholder Facilitation: Exceptional skills in stakeholder management, bridging communications between business units and software developers.
Quality & UAT Validation: Experience assisting with UAT execution, scenario review, and validating delivered software against business requirements.
Preferred Assets & Domain Experience
Public Sector Workflows: Prior experience analyzing business processes related to permitting, inspections, incident tracking, investigations, or regulatory compliance activities.
Modeling Methodologies: Knowledge of business process mapping, functional modeling, data flow diagramming, and object-oriented analysis techniques.
