Position Summary
We are seeking an expert Senior Business Architect to lead the creation, update, and alignment of Business and Information Architecture artifacts for a major geospatial technology program. In this role, you will guide an augmented project team through formal corporate enterprise gating and governance processes in preparation for upcoming corporate Architecture Review Board (ARB) approvals. The technical focus of this position centers on a large-scale GIS Delivery Platform (GDP), ensuring that business processes, value chains, and information architectures are vertically integrated with system requirements and data modeling frameworks.

Location: Toronto or Peterborough, ON (Hybrid arrangements may be discussed; primary locations include standard corporate offices)
Work Requirements: 7.25 hours per calendar day, Monday to Friday. The successful candidate is expected to work without a break in service to ensure adherence to strict fall governance deadlines.
Contract Duration: Initial contract structured around project milestones, with extension options permitted only to the extent of unused contract days and remaining contract funds.

Responsibilities
Governance Gating Leadership: Lead the project team through formal enterprise artifact upgrades, focusing on preparation, review, and engagement for critical corporate governance gate points (AGP 1, 2, and 3).
Business Architecture Development: Author and maintain comprehensive Business Architecture Documentation (BAD) according to enterprise standards, including Business Function Modeling, Process Modeling (BPMN), Value Chain Analysis, and KPI definitions.
Information Architecture Alignment: Create conceptual and logical data models mapped against process requirements to author robust Information Architecture Documents (IAD) and align them with Solution Requirements.
Horizontal & Vertical Integration: Identify common elements and delineation points across a portfolio of projects to ensure stand-alone business architectures align horizontally with corporate standards and vertically with strategic IT products.
Stakeholder & Executive Collaboration: Collaborate with executives and senior management to visualize complex concepts, build consensus, negotiate project pathways, and resolve architectural conflicts.
Service Design Coordination: Align business architecture processes and deliverables with Service Design practices, ensuring compliance with accessibility, privacy, and record-keeping principles.
Qualifications
Must-Haves & Mandatory Requirements:
Total IT experience of at least 10 years, with a minimum of 5 years dedicated to Business Architecture on large, complex enterprise projects.
Extensive, proven experience navigating Enterprise Architecture Gating processes, with a strict emphasis on the creation, review, and engagement process for Gate Points 1 and 2.
Proven track record of successfully completing Business and Information Architectures at the enterprise and/or core business levels for governments or large enterprise organizations.
Strong hands-on experience with Data Modeling and developing solution-level Information Architecture Documentation (IAD) and Business Architecture Documentation (BAD).
Demonstrated proficiency using Business Process Model and Notation (BPMN), Services modeling, and defining Performance Measures/KPIs.
Exceptional communication, concept visualization, facilitation, negotiation, and consensus-building skills when engaging with executive stakeholders.
Preferred & Desired Skills:
Knowledge of standard Enterprise Architecture frameworks (e.g., Zachman Framework) and scaling methodologies like SAFe.
Knowledge of specialized Enterprise Architecture modeling tools (e.g., PowerDesigner, Sparx Enterprise Architect, Orbus).
Familiarity with Information Management principles, including Data Governance, Data Quality, Master Data Management, and Records Keeping.
Familiarity with Accessibility standards (such as AODA) and Digital Service Design principles as they pertain to business architectures.
Ability to provide architectural advice and evaluation support to teams acquiring services or solutions via procurement.
