Position Summary
We are seeking an expert Senior Solution Architect to lead the creation, update, and alignment of Enterprise Architecture artifacts for a major geospatial technology program. In this role, you will guide an augmented project team of designers, developers, and business specialists through formal corporate architecture governance gating processes. The technical focus of this position centers on a large-scale GIS Delivery Platform (GDP), including its hosted/interconnected corporate applications, web services, spatial data, geomatics tools, and synchronized platforms.

Location: Toronto or Peterborough, ON (Hybrid arrangements may be discussed; primary locations include standard corporate offices)
Work Requirements: 7.25 hours per calendar day, Monday to Friday. The successful candidate is expected to work without a break in service to ensure adherence to strict fall governance deadlines.
Contract Duration: Initial contract structured around project milestones, with extension options permitted only to the extent of unused contract days and remaining contract funds.

Responsibilities
Enterprise Architecture Gating: Lead the project team through formal enterprise artifact upgrades, focusing on preparation, review, and engagement for critical corporate governance gate points.
Architecture Reviews & Assessments: Undertake deep and complex application and enterprise infrastructure reviews to support new, changing, and high-priority business initiatives.
GIS Advisory Expertise: Provide general and situation-specific GIS application and infrastructure architecture interpretation advice to technical teams, contractors, and client management.
Policy & Standards Development: Research, design, implement, and maintain forward-looking application architectural policies and compliance standards.
Multi-Platform Integration: Support the architecture of interconnected corporate applications, spatial data structures, and web services to ensure system synchronization and traceability.
Qualifications
Must-Haves & Mandatory Requirements:
10+ years of deep experience in software, application, and enterprise architecture design within complex IT environments.
Extensive, proven experience navigating Enterprise Architecture Gating processes, with a strict emphasis on the creation, review, and engagement process for Gate Points 1 and 2.
Demonstrated expertise providing general and situation-specific GIS application and infrastructure architecture interpretation advice to enterprise-level I&IT project teams.
Exceptional leadership skills with a track record of guiding diverse, multi-disciplinary technical teams (developers, database experts, and business analysts) toward tight governance deadlines.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a highly developed ability to present complex technical solutions clearly to senior executives and governance boards.
Preferred & Desired Skills:
Background in large-scale public sector systems or major geospatial utility networks.
Knowledge of structured frameworks for high-availability cloud hosting, web services integration, and data synchronization.
Exceptional analytical and risk-mitigation skills used to align technical delivery with shifting corporate priorities.
