Responsibilities
Operational Database Administration: Provide day-to-day administration, monitoring, patching, capacity planning, and troubleshooting across Microsoft SQL Server, IBM DB2, and Oracle database environments.
High Availability & Disaster Recovery: Configure, maintain, and support high-availability solutions, including SQL Server Failover Clustering, Always On Availability Groups, backup/recovery protocols, and replication processes.
REST API & Data Integration: Design, build, and implement secure REST API integrations and data exchange patterns to connect database platforms with external enterprise services.
Performance Tuning & Optimization: Analyze system execution plans, optimize complex SQL queries, tune index structures, and troubleshoot performance bottlenecks.
Database Upgrades & Migrations: Plan and execute seamless database migrations, environment refreshes, and platform upgrades across modern SQL Server versions (2019, 2022, 2025).
Security & Governance Controls: Enforce database security access controls, manage user roles, maintain audit logging, and ensure compliance with enterprise cybersecurity policies.
Change Management & Technical Support: Coordinate database release promotions, patch implementations, and Change Request (CRQ) testing in accordance with ITIL service management frameworks.
Documentation & Knowledge Transfer: Author technical architecture runbooks, system documentation, and operational procedures while delivering knowledge-sharing sessions to technical teams.
Qualifications
SQL Server Administration Seniority: Extensive hands-on database administration experience with Microsoft SQL Server platforms, specifically including SQL Server 2019, 2022, and 2025 (Strictly Required).
Multi-DBMS Technical Expertise: Demonstrated, hands-on administration experience with at least one additional enterprise DBMS: Oracle 19c, DB2 for Windows/Linux, or DB2 for z/OS (Mainframe) (Strictly Required).
REST API Integration: Proven experience designing and implementing REST API integrations and integration best practices (Strictly Required).
Clustering & High Availability: Deep knowledge of setup, monitoring, failover troubleshooting, and maintenance for SQL Server Failover Clustering and Always On Availability Groups.
Performance Tuning & HA/DR: Strong expertise diagnosing query bottlenecks, optimizing indexes, and implementing robust backup and disaster recovery strategies.
Upgrades & Release Management: Hands-on experience executing SQL Server version upgrades, patching, release promotions, and ITIL-aligned change management.
