Responsibilities
As a senior estimator, your main duties will include:
Analyzing plans and specifications for commercial tenant improvement projects to perform quantity take-offs.
Evaluating and negotiating bids from specialized subcontractors (interior finishing, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, etc.).
Preparing detailed cost estimates including materials, labor, equipment, and profit margins.
Collaborating closely with project managers to understand the specific needs of tenants and their brand requirements.
Identifying potential risks and proposing value engineering solutions to optimize project budgets.
Maintaining and developing a database of costs, reliable suppliers, and subcontractors.
Participating in project kick-off and follow-up meetings to ensure alignment between the estimate and execution.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
The ideal profile for this senior estimator role possesses the following qualifications:
Approximately 5 or more years of relevant estimating experience in the construction industry.
Demonstrated experience with a primary focus on retail tenant improvement (TI) projects.
Important Note: We are not seeking candidates whose experience is primarily in the residential, condominium, high-rise, or multi-million-dollar project sectors.
Excellent ability to read and interpret plans and specifications.
Strong organizational and priority-management skills.
Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel.
A keen eye for detail, rigor, and a high degree of autonomy.
