Responsibilities
Corporate Reporting: Manage the preparation and detailed review of quarterly inputs required for consolidated financial statement note disclosures.
General Ledger & Reconciliations: Oversee the accurate and timely completion of both standard and complex, non-routine journal entries, alongside monthly and quarterly account reconciliations.
Regulatory & Management Reporting: Produce reliable financial data, analytical insights, and operational support to satisfy electricity regulatory filings and internal management reporting needs.
Performance Analysis: Evaluate and discuss financial performance relative to the business's core value drivers, clearly articulating the underlying story and analysis behind the figures.
IFRS Compliance: Stay at the forefront of emerging IFRS guidelines, ensuring continuous compliance and leading the implementation of new accounting standard updates.
Process Improvement: Drive continuous improvement and productivity gains by evaluating existing financial workflows, re-engineering processes, and leveraging IT tools for automation.
Internal Controls: Execute risk management frameworks and internal controls; continuously assess, monitor, and ensure the effective design and operation of existing control mechanisms.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Lead meetings and cross-functional initiatives with various business units, utilizing strong communication and influence to secure timely inputs and achieve strategic project outcomes.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Business Administration, or a related field.
Designation: Active Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation in Canada is required.
Experience: 5+ years of progressive experience in corporate financial analysis, financial reporting, or a similar corporate accounting role.
Technical Skills: Strong working knowledge of IFRS and experience working with complex ERP systems and financial automation/reporting tools.
