We are seeking a Senior Snowflake Developer to join the Enterprise Data & Analytics team of a major financial institution. Following a significant acquisition in the Wealth Management sector, adding multi-billion dollar assets to our portfolio, we are launching a strategic initiative to integrate these new ecosystems.
...
In this role, you will lead the technical efforts to migrate, transform, and integrate complex financial data from the acquired entity's legacy systems into our centralized Snowflake Data Cloud. You will specifically utilize Databricks and PySpark for rigorous data preparation and validation, ensuring that advisors have access to accurate, high-performance data.
This is a remote role open to candidates based in Toronto or Montreal. Toronto is preferred (proximity to the business stakeholders), but strong candidates in Montreal are encouraged to apply.
Advantages
JoiStrategic Impact: Play a direct role in the integration of a major recent acquisition.
Modern Stack: Work with Snowflake, Databricks, PySpark, and Python in a Cloud environment.
Flexibility: Enjoy a fully remote work arrangement with occasional team interactions.
Career Growth: Join a team focused on digital transformation within the high-net-worth market.
Responsibilities
Integration & Migration: Lead the design and execution of data migration strategies to move historical and transactional data from legacy Wealth Management platforms into the Snowflake Data Cloud.
Data Engineering: Design, build, and maintain robust data pipelines. Use Databricks and PySpark to execute complex data preparation, transformation, and validation logic.
Data Modeling: Architect and implement data models (Star Schema, Snowflake Schema) specific to Wealth Management assets (holdings, transactions, client profiles).
Performance Tuning: Optimize SQL queries, clustering, and warehouse sizing to ensure low latency for reporting dashboards.
Data Quality & Governance: Implement rigorous quality checks and ensure adherence to strict financial security standards (PII protection, RBAC), critical in a post-acquisition context.
Collaboration: Work closely with Data Architects and Business Analysts to translate legacy system logic into modern cloud data structures.
Qualifications
7+ years of experience in Data Engineering or Data Warehousing.
Mandatory Experience in Wealth Management or Banking: Strong understanding of financial data structures is required to successfully manage this integration.
Deep Snowflake Expertise: Mastery of Architecture, SnowSQL, Snowpipe, and data sharing/cloning.
Mandatory Databricks & PySpark: Proven experience using these tools for heavy data engineering and validation.
Migration Experience: Experience with system migrations, ideally following M&A (Mergers & Acquisitions) activities or legacy modernization.
Language: English proficiency is mandatory (French is an asset).
**Our client operates in Canada. The company takes all reasonable steps to limit the number of positions in Quebec that require knowledge of a language other than French, and only requires it when necessary and its existing bilingual employees are unable to perform these duties.
Based on an assessment conducted by our client, it has been determined that this position requires candidates to be fluent in English (both spoken and written). In particular, this position will require the employee to interact with centralized internal departments (e.g., Operations / HR / Finance / Legal / Contracts / Sales) that support the organization in Canada and that do not speak French.**
Summary
We are looking for a Senior Snowflake Developer to lead the data integration of a newly acquired Wealth Management entity. If you have 7+ years of experience, a background in Finance/Wealth, and mastery of Snowflake, Databricks, and PySpark, this is your chance to work on a high-profile transformation project.
