Responsibilities
Strategic Planning: Provide expert advice on overall testing strategies, test plans, test tooling selection, and the estimation of resource requirements.
Test Lifecycle Execution: Plan, organize, and execute functional, integration, system, regression, and user acceptance testing (UAT) across the full Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
Defect Management: Identify, document, and manage software defects through their full lifecycle using enterprise tools like JIRA, actively collaborating with developers to reproduce and resolve bugs.
Accessibility Compliance: Conduct rigorous accessibility validation to ensure all digital components comply with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) and WCAG 2.1 standards.
Automation & CI/CD: Develop and maintain automated test scripts using frameworks such as Selenium, Cypress, or Postman, and integrate them into continuous integration/continuous deployment pipelines.
Performance Engineering: Execute specialized performance, stress, and load testing scripts utilizing tools like JMeter or LoadRunner to analyze system bottlenecks and verify scalability.
Data Verification: Design robust test data strategies while performing database queries to validate backend data integrity, consistency, and transformation workflows.
Agile Collaboration: Participate actively in Agile ceremonies (sprint planning, daily stand-ups, retrospectives) alongside Business Analysts and Project Managers to clarify requirements and optimize test coverage.
Qualifications
Core QA Experience: 5+ years of comprehensive software testing experience spanning functional, non-functional, integration, and systems-level validation.
Artifact Delivery: Proven track record of creating clear, highly detailed test strategies, test plans, scenarios, and execution summary matrices.
Compliance Expertise: Demonstrated hands-on experience in AODA compliance testing and validating applications against WCAG 2.1 standards.
Tooling Proficiency: Deep familiarity with defect management platforms (specifically Jira, ALM, or Azure DevOps) and test management utilities like TestRail or Zephyr.
Technical Depth: Working knowledge of automation suites (Selenium, Cypress, or OpenText UFT) and a clear grasp of programming/scripting languages (Python, JavaScript, or Bash) for automation or test data generation.
Backend Verification: Strong data analysis skills with a demonstrated ability to write SQL queries to audit database state and handle data migration validation.
Methodologies: Comfortable navigating Agile, Scrum, and traditional Waterfall project delivery models.
